20. Steamy Reunion

The next afternoon, Artemis woke up with freshly cleaned sheets and clothes.

She was still fuming, when the door opened, revealing Xander who's holding a tray of food. She look at him and waited until he safely set the food on the table, before she aggressively trew 5-6 pillows to him.

"Good! You are good! Alexander! You've done it this time! Bah! Get out!" she angrily smashed the pillows to his body and vented her anger for a long time before she could finally calm down.

"Baby, I was wrong. It's me. I've wronged you, hmm. You hit my face more, okay? It's softer here so you won't hurt your fist" Xander pleaded guilty immediately.

Noticing her eyes, he smiled a bit, kissed her hand and gently embraced her in his arms.

"Let's talk?" He whispered. He wants to know how long was she back, about Zion Williams, about the twins. He has a lot of questions but still waited for her patiently.

Artemis' eyes were dazed for a while before she started to speak.

"Solomon's and Smith's collaborated to extract my power core" she started.

With just one sentence from her, like a dam, Xander's killing intent bursted out instantly.

He knew. He knew about it, but hearing it coming from her was different. His heart tightens uncomfortably, but he still tried to calm himself and let her speak.

"They kept me in there for three months. I counted the day patiently. But on the 85th day, I was dragged to the laboratory" she paused for a second, trying to feel her emotions, but surprisingly,  she feels indifferent.

"hehe...after they got my core, I thought they'll kill me finally, but Timothy visited me again and again.

At first I thought he just wanted to torture me, but after recovering my space after my rebirth, I found out that he wasn't able to touch even a single grain of rice in the space.

A light of mockery reflected her eyes. Even until now, she still feels elated whenever she thinks of Timothy's helplessness after realizing the truth.
