Overall she was just a likable person.
Yunjin has so much respect for the older girl that if this were her way of talking sense into Yunjin's brain, Yunjin would gladly take it and thank her afterward.
"Sure. I don't mind." So she agrees in a snap, just like that.
Yunjin had no idea where they were headed but apparently, there was a nearby convenience store outside the hotel. Maybe this was where Chaewon was last night...
She lets Sakura enter the store first as if she were scared that she'd see Chaewon and Minju inside like the last time.
"Last night was interesting, wasn't it? I didn't expect things to take a turn." Sakura suddenly says as they walk along an aisle filled with snacks.
"Yeonjun, that idiot," Yunjin huffs, "I bet he's still fast asleep." She looks at each and every snack there is on the shelves, she doesn't get to pick one as they walk past it.
"I don't even know what got into him, I thought I'd be the one to get really drunk."
"I thought so, too," Yunjin admits, smiling sheepishly as they finally see the beverages.
Sakura doesn't take offense to that. She was going crazy last night.
As Yunjin checks all the drinks they could buy and of course, the prices, Sakura tries to think of a proper sentence to say.
She asked Yunjin to come with her and that wasn't just randomly picking someone. She had a reason and she knows that Yunjin noticed it as well.
"About last night, with Yeonjun," she started and Yunjin hummed as she inspected each and every one of the drinks.
"He said something about Chaewon and Jongseong?" And Yunjin freezes for a second or two before letting out a short, breathy laugh.
"Yeah," she breathes, "He really is something, huh? He's always saying weird and random things."
"Except, was it really random?"
Yunjin purses her lips as she closes the convenience store's fridge, clutching a cold drink in her other hand as she turns and finally meets Sakura's eyes.
Her eyes weren't judging, not questioning, either. It confused Yunjin for a bit because Sakura wasn't looking at her with pity either.
The older girl was staring at her with soft, gentle eyes that looked like she was just waiting for Yunjin to be the one to explain and she'd just take it all in.
Yunjin sighs, defeated. Sakura knows.
Because of that one random comment from Yeonjun, Sakura finally figured her out as well.
Curse Yeonjun, really.
"You probably think I'm crazy, don't you? That- That I'm stupid like what Kazuha thinks..." She plays with the bottle she took out, her fingers numbing because of the cold sensation.
She doesn't do anything about it, though. Instead, she presses her fingers harder against the bottle, letting the cold take over her fingers in hopes that it will spread and numb her whole.
"She probably told you by now, didn't she?"
Sakura bit her lip and nodded slowly.
"That's okay. You already knew from last night anyway." Yunjin waves it off, "Sooner or later everyone will know. It was just a matter of when."
"Since when?"
Yunjin blinked.
"Since when did you like her?" Sakura repeated.
Yunjin smiled, "The moment I stepped into the academy."
Saying Sakura was shocked is an understatement. She wasn't expecting it to be that long ago.
She thought it was recent.
"So all this time, you liked her? And you were aware that she likes Minju?"
Yunjin shrugs, "Well, that's just one of the struggles I have for liking Kim Chaewon."
Silence followed, and it stayed like that for a few seconds before Yunjin's curiosity took over her and she opened her mouth to ask finally.
"Are they... together?"
Sakura's eyes were filled with fear as they made eye contact once more. She was scared that she might hurt Yunjin because of the answer she had.
And Yunjin seemed to notice it, "Don't worry. I'm ready to take whatever answer you have to give. It's not like I haven't been hurt before." She says coolly.
But she could already feel herself breaking and Sakura is yet to answer her question.
"Let's just say that our friend group wants them to be together." Sakura offers Yunjin a tight-lipped smile and Yunjin copies her.
"Oh."
"Yeah..."
"They're talking, right?" And the apologetic smile that Sakura gave her was the only answer Yunjin needed.
Nodding, the redhead looks down at the bottle that she was holding. It was no longer cold or maybe her hands had grown numb due to how cold the drink was.
She looks up and smiles widely, "Thanks." She opens the fridge once more and puts the drink back, "I'll pay half for the drinks, wouldn't want you to pay for everything."
She starts taking drinks that she thinks everyone would like and soon after, Sakura helps her.
The air around them wasn't heavy. It was surprisingly calming. But Sakura knew that even if Yunjin assured her that she'd be fine with whatever she answered her with, deep down, it stung.
Maybe she shouldn't be threatened by Jongseong's presence.
Maybe she should be more threatened by the pain that was slowly taking over her. Growing into a garden filled with prickly thorns.
Stabbing her each time it grows. Pricking her each time she tries to push it down and hide it.
Liking Kim Chaewon hurts.
