When Life Hands You Lemons

If life could be perfect the days would be great,

With laughter and joy as the permanent state.

You'd go through your goings on cloud number nine,

At worst always doing much better than fine.

It'd always be sunny, the skies would be blue,

The clouds would be puffy and pillowy too.

The sweet smell of flowers would waft on the breeze,

And birds would stay chirping from high in their trees.

But sadly life isn't all honey and milk,

And cruising on by sailing smoothly as silk.

Despite all your hoping this could be the case,

The world can at times be a frustrating place.

Where flowers don't bloom and the breezes don't blow,

And songbirds go silent postponing their show.

Where clouds go all dark and the sky goes all grey,

And life hands you lemons to sour your day.

Despite never asking you'll get a good few,

of sharp-tasting fruits with a bright yellow hue.

Quite lively a color for something so dull,

That leaves your best plans roundly voided and null.

But though it might seem there's no fun to be had,

A sliver of good can be found in the bad.

Know even when down that there's still a way through;

When life hands you lemons here's what you can do...

With glue-stick and tape you could build a small bridge,

Then walk right on up to the top of your fridge.

And see at the summit an eyeful of treats,

Of sweet tasting snacks and delectable eats.

The Sugary Pretzels and Blueberry Creams,

That box full of Choc Puffs with Marshmallow Dreams.

Enjoy all these goodies and grab some of each,

Now thanks to your lemons they're all within reach.

But don't have a sweet tooth or fancy your fill?

Then pick up some lemons and learn a new skill.

One handy to have and quite nifty to know,

Start learning to juggle and put on a show.

With three till it's easy then upgrade to four,

And once that's too comfy then add a few more.

Just keep adding lemons the better you get,

Till soon you're the best that the world's ever met.

More artsy by far as a matter of fact,

Is using these fruits in a balancing act;

Of lemons on lemons stacked up really high,

With one on the next climbing up to the sky.

Much taller than you, maybe taller than me,

As high as the ceiling or even a tree!

A brilliant display of a skill that on sight,

Will wow those who see it no matter the height.

Or one thing to get you up over the moon,

Is going to purchase a hot-air balloon.

One covered in patches in blue and in green

Or purple and pink and all colors between.

Then pack it with lemons securing it sound,

And keeping it squarely right here on the ground.

Out where you can find it and know it will stay,

Till take-off comes 'round and it's up and away.

And one more idea you could try that's not hard,

Is planting some lemons out in the backyard.

Add water and read them some books just in case,

Till soon you have trees sprouting out in their place.

From here build a tree house and add a few swings,

A play set and tons of fun outdoorsy things.

Till Lemonwood Forest is so fun to roam,

And just steps away in your garden at home.

But great as that sounds and could be as it may,

More trees mean more lemons about in your way.

To put them to use you could try to I think,

Create your own business called LemonFace Inc.

With big colored markers or paint quick to dry,

Put weird wacky faces on all your supply.

And then from a stand and a website online.

Sell every last lemon for five ninety-nine.

And then when you've managed to sell off your stash,

What's left in their place will be buckets of cash.

The birds sing again and the sun returns too,

Igniting the sky to a warm summer blue.

Though things weren't so perfect, quite far from the best.

You still made it through and you passed every test.

What's left to do now is relax in the shade,

And have a tall glass of some cool lemonade.
