Script 10: Practice game

Start from the beginning

The president had a shit-eating grin on her face and Chaewon is close to feeling her soul leave her body.

This situation was making her feel like she was experiencing a near-death experience. She's just dramatic.

"How did I not know?"

"Would you have said yes to your role if you knew?"

And suddenly Chaewon has her bottom lip captured in between her teeth as she looks at Sieun with a deep frown.

"'Course you wouldn't." Sieun placed her hands on her hips as she spoke, very smug knowing that she just successfully fooled Chaewon into thinking that there was a kissing scene.

It makes Sieun wonder if Chaewon would have been fine with it if Jaeyun was still her partner.

"So, what do you say?"

Chaewon shoots her a death glare, looking irritated. Sieun stares at her waiting for her decision. It's not like Chaewon has any other choice anyway. Just the thought of having to kiss in front of an audience for a play gives her the ick.

Well, she has to do it someday during a play in the future, sure. But as much as possible, she's avoiding it right now.

Wouldn't want her first kiss to be with a boy she used to go to high school with. Let alone Huh Yunjin. At least make her first kiss with someone she loves.

The thought sends chills down her spine and she grimaces as she closes her eyes, sighing.

"Promise me you'll take that off the script."

"I promise." As if there was any kissing scene to take off the script to begin with.

And so Chaewon decides to attend the practice game with them this weekend. It wasn't even about how bored she would be, she could attend any ball game just fine and she'd be able to enjoy it.

Probably because of the fact that Kim Minju would definitely be there. If not on the court watching the game, probably somewhere around the campus, roaming the halls where Chaewon could surely bump into her.

What does she even say when that happens? It would be so awkward and uncomfortable. Minju probably doesn't want to see her anyway, though. Chaewon has left her messages unread and inboxed for quite a while, she wouldn't be surprised if Minju just ignored her.

And Chaewon doesn't know which hurts more. Bumping into Minju or getting ignored by her.

Nonetheless, she'll use the fact that Huh Yunjin is playing and Chaewon doesn't want to see her.

The practice game between ACE Academy and SCE Academy is in less than two days and Yunjin could already feel her body crying and shouting at her to take a break. With the rehearsals occupying almost 70 percent of her schedule, she had to do something about her basketball training to make up for the times she wasn't around.

The coach was understandably hesitant with Yunjin's sudden added activities. They all know they have to put all their attention on the training alone. She was almost certain that she might have to bench Yunjin for the practice game and for the real game as well.

Luckily Yunjin was able to convince her that she'd train extra harder than everyone. She said she'd double the drills for each hour she missed for the training. That was enough to convince the coach.

And that was definitely enough to make Yunjin's entire body scream in pain.

She needed to rest, her heavy eyes were telling her that. She needed to sleep, her aching head was shouting at her to just fall and rest. If only she could listen and do that in an instant.
