They were probably having the time of their lives because Huh Yunjin is owning the stage again.
She doesn't let it show but she grits her teeth at the thought. Luckily, she finished the test fairly quickly as she already studied and basically read her textbooks back to back.
She was already power walking towards the auditorium when she heard the fairytale-like music bleeding through the walls and echoing through the halls.
The same music that Chaewon has heard over and over due to their previous rehearsals. The melody of classical, calming, and elegant music filled her ears and suddenly her body relaxed. She no longer power walked and was now taking her sweet time as she calmly walked towards the auditorium.
A small smile made its way to her lips as she felt the excitement course through her body at the thought of being able to perform in front of a crowd once more.
The two double doors on each side of the auditorium were closed but Chaewon could perfectly see through the small window on the door. She guessed that they might have turned all the ac units on inside which is why the door was closed shut.
Usually, all doors would be wide open.
She looks through the window and she sees Danielle pass by, taking off her headphones before rushing towards the back. The music is louder now that she's closer. It was vibrating through her feet and she could feel how much louder the music was inside.
All the lights were pointed towards the stage and Huh Yunjin was there, in the middle delivering her lines like it's tattooed on the back of her mind. Her facial expression, her movements, and the way she said her lines fluently word for word were just astounding.
She wasn't even wearing her costume for the scene yet but everything already looked complete.
Like Yunjin, Chaewon also remembered every second, every moment, and every scene in the script that she knew what exact scene Yunjin was rehearsing on her own. This was the masquerade ballroom scene where the main leads would be talking to each other while dancing, hiding their identities through their masks but still feeling like their knowledge of each other is deepening despite the lack of visual knowledge of what each other looked like.
It was a playful and romantic scene that would indicate both the main character's interest in one another. In the same scene, Chaewon knows Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Soobin are supposed to be dancing with their pair. They were supposed to be circling the main characters with Sunghoon paired with Wonyoung, Sunoo with Hanni, and Soobin with Sakura.
Chaewon was in awe as she watched the three pairs dance elegantly around Yunjin, a little while after, Danielle emerged from backstage and momentarily took Chaewon's spot to help Yunjin.
Chaewon sees Yunjin mouths "Thanks" when Danielle places a hand on her shoulder. So that's why Danielle was in a hurry earlier.
Their performance was jaw-dropping and Chaewon can't believe she's actually astounded by Huh Yunjin's acting. She watches Yunjin's careful and gentle movements, placing her hands on Danielle's waist but doesn't let her hand stay without a gap, only holding Danielle properly when holding her arm and hands.
Their movements were all elegant, calculated, almost. She watches Yunjin's passionate eyes as she flutters her eyelashes when she looks to the floor to not step on Danielle's foot.
It's as if she was a totally different person on stage, acting all gentle, all soft. Chaewon has rehearsed this part with Jaeyun before, he moved as gracefully as the boys on stage but not as calculated and gentle as Yunjin.
The role was specifically made for Jaeyun but it feels like Yunjin has rebranded it and made it her own. Putting on her own twists, her own little adlibs here and there.
