Script 9: Rehearsals

Start from the beginning

"Look at Chaewon," Sakura points, "Do you think someone with that expression would even have the heart to spare Sunghoon?"

The youngest out of the four laughed knowing the answer to Sakura's rhetorical question. She was clearly enjoying this more than anyone. Maybe Sakura as well as she gets carried away with taking too many pictures of Sunghoon.

"Look, it wasn't planned!" The poor boy finally spoke, but his voice trembled and he was moving too much for his own good, "I swear! You can even ask Sieun noona!"

Chaewon rolls her eyes, "As if! She'd probably lie to me, too!" That wasn't true, Chaewon knew Sieun would never lie to her. Sieun was too nice to even do such a thing.

Well, maybe she's mean enough to put Huh Yunjin back in the club without giving Chaewon a heads-up but Chaewon already let that one pass.

But this newspaper? Surely, something was off.

"You wanted Huh to be part of the play, didn't you??" Chaewon accused, eyes squinted while still holding the newspaper in her hand.

Sunghoon makes eye contact with Wonyoung and Sakura over the table. They don't help him. He clicks his tongue and finally relaxes in his seat. By that alone, Chaewon knew he'd finally be telling the truth.

"Listen, I wanted Yunjin to get that spot, alright? I think that was no secret at all," Chaewon watches him like a hawk, inspecting the way he talks and the way he acts to see if he is lying or not.

"And Sieun does, too! Nothing was planned, Chae. I promise you that. We were just happy that Yunjin came on her own." He added while the other two girls on the other side of the table listened.

Chaewon turned to look at Sakura as if asking her opinion on it while Wonyoung shrugged.

"I did talk to her once," that was a lie. Sunghoon has talked to Yunjin more than once but he'd never tell Chaewon that. "I told her she was more than welcome to audition as well-"

"Are you kidding-!"

"But! Let me finish!" He held up both of his hands in front of Chaewon as Wonyoung snickered with Sakura smiling widely.

"She said she didn't want to." He finishes and leans back.

"Smells like bullshit to me-"

"Wonyoung!" Sunghoon glared at her, "You are not helping!"

"Who said I was helping you? Idiot." Wonyoung rolls her eyes at him and Sunghoon scoffs.

Chaewon turns to look at Sakura once more and the older girl shrugs, "What do you want me to say? Sunghoon's story sounds believable enough."

Sunghoon clasps his hands together as he turns toward Sakura, "Thank you!"

The short-haired girl finally lowered her hand down, setting the crumpled newspaper down on the table. She finally decides to let it go and shut her mouth. If anyone at this table was lying, no one would out themselves even if Chaewon tried hard enough.

"You know, you could just- I don't know? Kick Yunjin out?" Wonyoung suggested, which earned her a slap on the shoulder from Sakura.

"Hey!"

"Are you serious?" Sakura asks through gritted teeth, eyes wide and Sunghoon is looking at the two of them with a frown.

"How can you say that when-"

"I can't do that," Chaewon says in between Sakura's statements, cutting the older girl off.

Chaewon's serious tone caught all of their attention. It was rare for her to suddenly sound defeated while talking about Huh Yunjin. She usually sounds pissed, mad, or maybe even sounded like she has a point to prove.
