Alexa's POV

"Did you just ask me how the weather was?" I asked with a confused look on my face.

"Yeah! I think it's a pretty okay night. Y'know? Stars are out, not too hot, not too cold..."

"Uhh..." I muttered. "Yeah. It's a pretty nice night, I guess. Oh look! We're here. Let's go get us a table."

We walked inside and I brushed off Dallas' weird comment about the weather. Man, guys overthink too much. It wasn't awkward at all! I thought we had great conversation.

"Hi, how many?"

"Just two." I said to the girl.

"Two? Okay! Follow me."

She took us around the corner to a booth almost in the corner. We took the menus out from behind the napkins and started looking it over.

"Man, I missed this place. Used to come here all the time with Tony and Noah."

"Tony and Noah? Like Tony Rould and Noah Sanner?"

"Yeah. They're cool guys."

"Yeah they're cool. Don't know 'em very well. I didn't know you was friends with them, though."

"Yeah, a while ago. They were the only two who knew I was leaving when I was. It was nice seein' them again."

Maybe Dallas had more of a name to himself than I thought. Noah and Tony are two pretty big hot shots at our school. Guess I didn't pay too close of attention freshmen year.

"Hi, I'm Mabel, I'll be takin' care of you guys. Can I get you two something to drink?"

"I'll have a water." Dallas said.

"Yeah, me too." She left to get our waters. "Man, this chicken sandwich sounds so good. I think I'll get that."

"Sounds good."

Apparently he wasn't up for conversation. He put the menu down without saying anything.

"Alright, here are those waters for ya. Are you ready to order?"

"Yeah. I'll have the classic chicken with no mayo, please."

"I'll just have a medium fry."

I look at him. "That's it? You don't want anything else?"

"Nah, I'm okay."

"You told me you were starving. You like hamburgers?"

"Yeah."

"With cheese?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"He'll have a cheeseburger. And make it a large fry."

"Well-"

I cut him off. "And add a chocolate shake to that too. Thank you."

She wrote all that down and walked off.

"Alexa, I don't need all of that. I can't afford it."

"Don't look at prices. If you're hungry, you're hungry."

"Yeah, but-"

"Too late now."

She brought over the chocolate shake and Dallas dug right into it. I don't know why he didn't order more food. He said he was starving at the school.

We had some more innocent conversation before our food came up. We ate and we finally finished.

"You guys all set with this?" The waitress asked.
