open when... part two (justin fields)

Start from the beginning

"well i'm here now. i'll never let you forget about me again. i will follow you home if i have to, don't doubt me." she gave my hand a squeeze.
"i won't. trust me" i pulled her in closer and laid my head atop hers.

"okay everything in the past, all the sad stuff out of the way. what are you up to now? i hear you play football or something?" she said with her same smile she had when she thought she had said something really hilarious.
"i do. quarterback on the bears believe it or not. but what about you. how are you? what brings you to chicago?" i asked
"well believe it or not, i'm an art director. moved here about a year ago, got a promotion from columbus. right now i'm preparing for a little art show at the studebaker theater just down the road. that's actually where i came from after stopping at my car in the garage."
"of course you are. your art was always amazing. can we go see it?"
"really? like right now?" she asked and i nodded. "okay, yeah. let's go" she said, excitedly getting up and pulling me by my hand out of the couch.

"you're excited" i commented, smiling, on her haste to leave and run through the streets of chicago.
"well nobody has actually asked to see my exhibit yet. i mean i know it isn't done, but it means a lot you want to go." she told me, making me feel bad that i was the only one who wanted to see her stuff. doesn't she have other people here that would have even offered to come and see her exhibit?
"i've been to a million of your shows before, and i'm more than happy to go to this one too." i truthfully told her, making a memory come into my mind.

..

"i'm really excited about this one, j" i was met at the entrance of the university art fair by y/n.
"i'm excited too, i told the whole team about your booth and a lot of them said they were gonna come over and check it out." i told her.
"aww really, thank you. but come over here i have something to show you." she grabbed my hand to lead me over to her booth.
"you inspired this painting, what do you think?" she asked, awaiting my response with anxiety.

i was lost in the painting she had in the center of her collection. it was a watercolor painting of two tree frogs sitting on a tree with a beautiful landscape of trees in the background.

"i love it, you have so much talent baby. can i ask why frogs though?" i asked her.
"well for one, frogs represent a spirit to guide you through changes in life. you've always been there for me in every change we've been through. with every change in my life, you're always a constant. frogs allow you to form a deeper connection with yourself. also, i've always thought you looked like a frog. a cute one" she had her arm hooked through mine the whole time.

i for one could not take my eyes off of the painting.

"i can't believe you painted this. it's beautiful. and you're so deep with all your art, and i'm gonna take the frog thing as a compliment." i looked down at her to meet her glance.
"you should, frogs are adorable" she planted a quick kiss on my cheek and rested her head on my bicep, leaving me amazed.

..

"then it's a good thing i run the whole thing and have the keys, so it'll just be us. all we have to do though is go down this incredibly suspicious alley, but my keys don't open the front door, so bear with me." she led me down to the back door of the theater and put her keys in the door. breaking me from my thoughts, "wait, oh my god, bear with me. cause you play for the bears! wow i'm really funny" she smiled and laughed to herself and returned her attention to opening the door.

"you're goofy as hell" i laughed and brought her my arms around her from behind her, making her giggle as she looked for the light switch. "alright where are we going?" i asked her, lifting her off the ground into a bridal style hold.
"over there in the right corner" she laughed, her arms coming around my neck.

upon seeing her exhibit, i was at a loss for words.

it was captivating.

every time i saw anything she made, it reminded me of how creative and talented she was. that's when i turned my attention to the display of figures on a table. i was extremely hyper-fixated on a clay sculpture of a frog.

"hello, earth to justin" i was pulled back to reality again with y/n's hand waving in my face.

"there's a frog"
"what?" she asked, confused.
"the frog" i repeated, setting her down on the ground gently.
"oh." she walked over to the table it was sitting on, "yeah, i guess i really like frogs." she looked back at me, a small smile on her face.

i walked slowly up to her and cupped her face in my hands. i brought my face down closer to hers.

"can i kiss you?" i whispered, feeling my own heartbeat speed up.
"yes, please" she quietly said back.

i dipped my face down the rest of the way and my lips met hers in as much fondness and adoration a kiss could be filled with. one of her hands came up on my neck, the other holding the collar of my shirt. i moved a hand down to her waist to pull her in closer.

"was that really your first kiss in 4 years?" she asked, giggling slightly.
"yeah, why" i smiled at her face scrunching up at her laughter.
"just as nice as i remember" she whispered and jumped back into my arms.

she cut off my bright smile with pulling my face into hers again.

"what letter do i open when i never want to leave your side again?" i said when we pulled apart.
"i don't know about a letter, but that's sure to happen if you kiss me again" she said, and that's exactly what i did.

this ending was difficult to come up with, but i hope you liked it.

okay but lets be fr with ourselves, justin fields does look like a frog though right? or like a gecko or something. he's still a total cutie patootie, but he is a certified amphibian.

love you <3
