*izzy's pov

"i was really looking forward to not having to go out tonight and laying in my nice warm bed with a bowl of popcorn after a long day of work." i told joe, already exhausted thinking about tonight.

joe was an old college friend, we went to OSU together. i was really just friends with his girlfriend, and once i finally stopped telling olivia to break up with him, i got to know him and we became friends. he finally proved himself as a boyfriend, what can i say i have to make sure my friend isn't dating a douchebag.

i'm super close with olivia again, we tried to keep close, but since joe and olivia graduated a year before me it was kind of difficult. we managed to meet up a few times but eventually we had went nearly a year without talking at all. that was until i accidentally ran into both of them at a restaurant in cincinnati. at that point i had moved back home to cincinnati because i got a financial job in an office downtown

i really must not have been paying attention to any local news because that same day i learned that joe had been playing for the bengals for about 3 months.

ever since then we became just as close as we were in college which brings us to where we were right now. joe was trying to convince me to go to a party his best friend was throwing. his friend just got drafted to the bengals and was celebrating tonight at joe's house.

"please come, i mean you've met him before it's gonna be fun" joe pleaded with me. i only met his friend, ja'marr, like two times. one time joe had come back to columbus to meet up with old friends with a group of people from LSU. the only other time i can remember was olivia convincing me to go with her to an LSU game where i was introduced to a large amount of people, most of which i don't remember.

"but i want to go to sleep early tonight, i've had to stay up late every night this week working on that work presentation." i asserted, "why is this so important anyway, were you really waiting outside my office to ask me to go?"
"i'm not asking you to go, i'm begging you to go. you can even go home early if you want, i'll drive you home" he reasoned, running to catch up with me when i started walking away to the elevators.
"you still haven't told me why i need to go so bad." i said, waiting for joe to come into the elevator, even though i wanted to close them on him. like every time he asked me to do something, he was getting very close to convincing me to go, he can be so annoying sometimes.
"how do you walk so damn fast" he held his finger up in an attempt to get me to wait for his response as he caught his breath.
"isn't part of your job running?" i joked as the elevator lowered to the lobby. he shot me a glare as the elevator doors opened again, still catching his breath.

i raised my eyebrows as a sign for him to start talking as he still hadn't answered my question, to which he just fiddled with his fingers avoiding the question. i sighed and walked off out into the brisk march cold.
"i'm trying to set you guys up, isn't it obvious!" i could hear joe yell from behind me, i wasn't aware that he was still following me so it kind of scared me.
"set us up? i feel like my life is busy enough without dating a professional nfl player, joe. and since when do you play matchmaker?"
"can you at least get to know him, see where things go, for me, iz, please." he persuaded.

another long sigh came from my mouth before i agreed.
"really! you are not gonna regret it thank you so much." he said excitedly, trying to give me a large hug.
"okay whatever, get off of me. does ja'marr even know about me? and what time is all this happening?" i asked shrugging joe off of me while he stuck his hands in his pockets; reminding me of the cold air around me.
"well he kind of remember you, but don't worry i've talked about you to him all the time." he said, pleased with himself.
"you told him about me?! did he even say he was interested?" i said, distressed.
"what's so bad about talking about you, he said he was excited to see you tonight." he answered, confused at why i was so concerned.
"so you already told him i was coming, how'd you know i'd say yes?" i asked, arriving at my car in the parking garage.
"you always say yes." he said in a 'duh' tone, "anyway i'll have liv pick you up at 8 to take you to my house, be there!" he yelled before running off to his own car leaving me rolling my eyes with a smile, until i remembered i have to actually go to the party like i said i would.
