Chapter 1 - the Fateful Encounter

The showcase venue buzzed with an energy that hung thick in the air, a promise of undiscovered talent waiting to be unveiled. Y/n stood backstage, her heart pounding in rhythm with the pulsating anticipation of the crowd. This was her moment, and she was ready to seize it.

Loving music and dance all her life, Y/n participated in many Theatre groups growing up. She plays the Piano, Guitar, and Ukulele and has been a soloist for her Local choir for the past 3 years. She is trained in Ballet, Modern and Hip Hop as well as Wushu, and she has a love for Volleyball and Motor Sports. She plays as an outside hitter for her state's youth team and often goes karting on the weekends, after getting a Sodi-kart for her Birthday 3 years ago. 

Today she's here to audition for Pledis Entertainment, hoping to become a female trainee under their company.

The spotlight bathed the stage in a soft glow, and Y/n stepped forward, her nerves transforming into a quiet confidence. She quickly introduced herself to the judges and took a quick bow before sitting in front of the piano and resting her hands on the keys, she stilled herself. Today she will be performing "Say Something" by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera, as well as a short dance piece to "Bang Bang" by Jessi J, Ariana Grande, showing off her rap to Niki Minaj's track. As the first notes of the piano resonated through the room, setting the stage for her performance her voice, a tapestry of emotions, spilled into the room. It weaved through the melody, captivating the audience in a spell. Among the spectators were the oldest members of "Seventeen," their eyes glued to the stage as Y/n's voice painted vivid landscapes of emotion. Her powerful dance movements demonstrated the clean precision of a ballet dancer with the quick and controlled movements of a martial artist.

Seungcheol, the oldest with a commanding presence, exchanged knowing glances with Jeonghan, the playful one of the group, and Joshua, who found himself swaying to the rhythm. And as the last note lingered in the air, the room erupted in applause. Y/n took a gracious bow, her eyes sparkling with a mix of joy and humility. Backstage, the members of "Seventeen" exchanged excited glances. Seungcheol was the first to make a move, leading the charge toward the talented singer. 

Following the departure of 4 trainee members Seventeen was auditioning for possible positions on the team. They were searching for possible additional male trainees. Having decided on Xu Minhao from the morning auditions they were mainly there to spectate as they were only looking for 1 or 2 new members. However, they did not expect, the girl dressed in comfortable-looking parachute pants and a simple black crop top to catch their attention.

"Wow, that was amazing!" Seungcheol exclaimed, his eyes gleaming with admiration. "안녕하세요 I'm Choi Seungcheol, from 'Seventeen', a trainee group under Pledis, and I wanted to say that we were blown away by your performance." "Yeah! Your voice is incredible and those dance moves were seriously impressive. The rap too was also super fun." chimed Joshua. Jeonghan also politely introduced himself (he appeared a little shy at first). "Wow, thank you so much! Hello, Seonbae I'm Y/n, and I'm auditioning to become a trainee under Pledis. It's nice to meet you guys!"

After some short introductory conversations, Y/n was called in with the rest of the auditionees for some last notices before being sent home to wait for further news. And so the 4 of them bid their farewells. Seungcheol was deep in conversation with Yoon Jeonghan as they walked away. 

- Two days later -

Whilst walking back from volleyball practice Y/n received a phone call from an unknown number.

"여보세요, 누구세요?" Y/n asked

"Hello, this is the VP of Pledis Entertainment. On behalf of the Pledis, I would like to congratulate you on your amazing audition and formally invite you to join us as a trainee. What do you say?"

"Wow!" at a loss for words Y/n' stopped in the middle of her tracks in shock. "Thank you so much! Thank you so much! That would be wonderful and I would be very happy to start training under Pledis. When do I start"

VP chuckled slightly upon hearing Y/n's adorable and enthusiastic response. "How about Friday? We will have someone waiting for you in the lobby to introduce you. Oh, and be prepared for a little surprise!" With a mischievous tone, he quickly hung up the phone.

A surprise? Y/n thought to herself. But that was soon forgotten when she excitedly ran home to tell her parents about this amazing news.
