Script 7: Take the spot

"And the club always picks you." He says with a genuine smile. It was supposed to sound like an assurance but Chaewon felt like she was being a burden for having to force the club to go her way.

They're adjusting for her. Not taking in Yunjin for her, not bringing her back just for her and she feels very guilty.

But she just can't let those hateful feelings towards Yunjin disappear.

She mumbles a weak, "Thanks" under her breath and looks elsewhere out of shame.

"I know you all will do well in this play, but right now, you can just take a break from everything. The academy rewarded us with going to a resort and we have to enjoy every single bit of it." He pats her shoulder one last time and Chaewon doesn't say anything more.

During the short gathering and announcement earlier, Yunjin and her friends came in as a whole group. They were on their way to their basketball practice when the speakers buzzed and they heard Bae Sumin's voice.

It was a common occurrence but sometimes it would be Danielle talking through the speakers, and on rare occasions, it would be both Sunghoon and Wonyoung. Sometimes they would even be fighting inside the booth before making the announcement.

In the middle of the field and in the heat, Yunjin swore she might just go insane. With her thinking about her plan for the day the whole day, she's restless. She watches as the dean congratulates the whole football team and she watches the theater club run towards Jaeyun with huge smiles stretched across their faces.

Yunjin catches a glimpse of Chaewon clapping and smiling as they approach Jaeyun who is in a wheelchair. Kazuha winces at the sight of his leg in a cast but none of them say anything else.

Not even a joke was said. And Yunjin is pretty sure everyone has already caught a glimpse of what will happen to them if they don't play safely against the same team that the football team was against.

And suddenly, Yunjin regrets becoming an athlete this time around.

On the way back to the gymnasium, Ryujin places a hand on her shoulder as they walk side by side. "Doing alright?" she asks.

"I guess." That was the only thing Yunjin managed to let out as they kept walking.

"I heard about what happened in the cafe. Aeri was so dramatic about it," Ryujin chuckles, "And Minjeong told me you were kind of devastated."

Yunjin sucked in a breath through her teeth as she shrugged, "Not that much? I just wasn't expecting to see Heeseung and Chaewon together on a date." she acted nonchalantly about it but her expression wasn't able to mirror it.

Ryujin stared at her for a few moments but refused to say anything else. She pats Yunjin's back before walking ahead, entering the gymnasium before anyone else. Yunjin slows down her steps and she gets greeted by pats on the back by her other friends.

Kazuha's hand lingered a lot longer than the others and it was enough for Yunjin to know what Kazuha wanted to tell her. She looks up just before Kazuha enters the gymnasium and they make eye contact.

"I know you want to do it. Take the spot, unnie." She says in a soft but very encouraging way and it immediately fueled Yunjin's need to go back and take her spot back in the theater club.

Temporarily, anyway.

She didn't tell anyone about her plan to audition and take Jaeyun's role away from the three boys but it seems that Kazuha was able to read her actions perfectly. From Minjeong and Aeri possibly telling them the whole thing to Yunjin staring at the theater club earlier out in the field, Kazuha had already picked up on it.
