"You're ignoring two girls in your life, one of which you can still talk to and fix whatever happened and yet you run away instead."
"Are you talking about Minju or-"
Yena scoffs before smirking, looking very smug, "As if you'd want to fix everything and befriend Huh Yunjin after a whole damn year. You'd rather leave the theater club than do that."
Chaewon finally shuts up for the rest of the ride. It was only when they arrived at Chaewon's house that she finally talked again.
This time, there were no Huh Yunjin or Kim Minju in the topic.
—
"That wasn't you and Chaewon unnie fighting.. right?" Eunchae asked once they were close to her house. She sounded hesitant and unsure.
Yunjin pushed her lips together into a thin line.
Eunchae wanted to avoid asking about such a thing but she just couldn't help but bring it up. It was just very rare for her to see Yunjin and Chaewon together, talking alone in the school's parking lot.
Hell, it would have been rare for the whole school as well.
Yunjin doesn't respond for a second and Eunchae gets worried that she made her cousin uncomfortable, so she scrambles to try to say something but no proper sentence would come up in her head to save the situation.
"It's.. It was nothing. We were just talking." It was Yunjin who spoke up.
Eunchae doesn't say anything else, she shifts in her seat and holds onto the seatbelt. But Yunjin continues, "We were just talking about a project. We got paired up in a class together."
"Oh, I didn't know that."
"We share a few classes together. It was just pure coincidence." Yunjin says before laughing but it comes out awkwardly and she coughs to try and save it.
None of them talk for a while. Yunjin was worried that Eunchae would be thinking a bit too much about what she saw earlier and the look on her face was hard to read. Yunjin doesn't know what she's thinking about, so she assumes.
Yunjin sighs, "Look, don't worry about it. We don't really fight anymore.. Not at all. We just talk once in a while and ignore each other."
"Unnie, you know you can tell me when something's wrong.." Eunchae says which catches Yunjin off guard.
They never really talk about Yunjin and her dynamic with Chaewon. They didn't even talk about what happened last year, Yunjin didn't try to explain and just left. Which is why it was heartbreaking for Eunchae.
While Yunjin did say goodbye to her before leaving, she didn't explain anything to the poor girl.
And her spending a lot of time with Eunchae this time around was to make up for it.
"I could say the same to you." Yunjin mumbles as she grips the steering wheel, getting ready to pull over in front of her cousin's house.
Eunchae huffs but doesn't say anything. She knew Yunjin was talking about the thing she said about leaving the theater club. Eunchae wasn't a clueless, stupid kid after all. She knows that Yunjin knows that she was lying about the reason why she wanted to leave the club.
Yunjin is just not smart enough to figure out the real reason behind it.
The car stops and Yunjin turns to look at Eunchae. She looked worried and she was obviously demanding for answers.
Eunchae only shook her head. "You worry too much, unnie."
"Of course I worry too much. I have to look out for you somehow, you know? Even if you're in a separate building. Even if that kid Kyujin already takes care of you." There was a hint of teasing with the Kyujin part.
