BACKSTORY:

➸ Kanae was born in Shibuya Japan, her mother was a Japanese business woman and her father, Touji, was a man who ran away from his family in search of his own life. He found Sayu Okkutsu and fell in love with her, they had a child together but not long after, she passed away and Kanae was abandoned by him, left to be taken care of by her grandparents.

➸ It was discovered that from a young age, Kanae was a very special girl. She was smart and unusually strong and fast. Her family on her mother's side came from a long descending line of ancient samurai. Her family kept a sword from before the era ended in 1868, Kanae wished to be taught the ways of the sword. Her grandfather, Hiro was able to teach her, as he was a master of Kenjutsu. Kanae had mastered the katana at only fourteen years old, she was extremely talented and extremely smart. She was gifted the ancient katana after it had been refurbished by her grandmother.

➸ At only seventeen, her grandparents passed away in an accident, so she left Japan and started to explore the world, able to inherit her grandparents' money. She started taking missions for high paying clients and was quickly put under SHEILD's radar as a threat.

➸ Kanae's father was working as a shifty ally for SHEILD at the time she came to be under their watch, and he was sent to eliminate her because she was a threat. Touji didn't realize that Kanae was his daughter until he heard her name, and he got a good look of her face— which deeply resembled her mother. He stopped trying to kill her, and asked for her last name.

➸ Upon learning her full name, Touji seemed deeply satisfied, and escaped, ditching the job. To this day, Kanae has no idea who he was, and hasn't been able to find him since. Since then, Kanae is becoming more and more entangled with matters in America, with SHIELD actively keeping tabs on her.
