I trusted her and knew she would make the right choice.

It wasn't like me to follow anyone or let anyone call the shots but Julia was my whole world.

She was my everything.

My thoughts were interrupted by Maisie starting to fuss and cry.

"Shhhh...we don't want to wake mommy." I said and tried to soothe her.

I had no fucking clue what I was doing and I was hoping that my natural instinct would kick in.

"Shhh..." I hushed, standing up and bouncing slightly, holding Maisie to my chest.

I kept my eyes on Julia, praying she would stay asleep. I needed her to read considering we would be waking her up to pump in two hours.

I both knew it would be exhausting to have a newborn but if we were starting our exhausted it would only be worse.

"Come on, love. How can I help?" I asked, desperately trying to figure out how to calm her down.

"Everything okay?" A nurse asked as she came in. "I don't know why she's crying." I said with a sigh.

"It's probably too early for a diaper change so she could just be fussy." She explained. "Try holding her like this." She said then helped me position Maisie to be more where my heart was.

As soon as she did that, she stopped crying. "Oh, so I was just doing it wrong." I said as she breathed a laugh.

"Not wrong, it just takes some time to get used to babies and how they work." She said with a smile. "Some babies like to hear the heartbeat of their parents because it reminds them of the womb." She explained.

"Got it." I said then sat down again. "I came in to check on mom but I'm very happy to see she's sleeping." She said as I nodded.

"It took a lot of convincing but she finally did it." I said with a laugh. "It's tough because childbirth is so laborious that moms want to enjoy the baby they worked hard for but they need the rest." She said then went to check Julia's vitals.

"There's going to be a time in the very near future though that you both wish you got more sleep in the hospital." She said and breathed a laugh.

"Understandable." I hummed, looking down at Maisie again. "The doctor wanted me to also mention that she wants to do some testing on the baby because mom has epilepsy and...well.." The nurse shifted awkwardly.

"Well what?" I asked and raised my brows. "Because she's an addict." She said causing anger to fill my chest.

I was obviously very protective of Julia and now Maisie, so the fact they thought Julia would do drugs while pregnant with our daughter made me angry.

"It's just procautionary not accusatory." The nurse said, noticing my anger. "She would never do anything to put our daughter at risk." I said as she nodded.

"Trust me, I know." She said with a reassuring smile. "If she was someone who was willing to take drugs while pregnant, she would have gotten an epidural." She said as I nodded.

"Either way, we need to wait until she's awake. She'd actually kill me if I agreed to anything while she was asleep." I said with a sigh.

"Smart. I'll check back in a little while." She said then left the room.

"Alright, love. We can't wake mommy." I said as Maisie melted against my chest.

"I love you." I said quietly then kissed her head. I couldn't get over how much I loved her. It was crazy that I was holding in my arms someone that would be a part of the rest of my life.

Someone I was going to run to the ends of the earth for.

I was terrified that someone from the crime world would catch wind that she was born.

Although I knew Julia and I would do anything in the world to protect her, it was still scary.

She was fragile and defenseless and she depended fully on us.

We weren't going to let her down.

Julia slept for two hours before we had to wake her up to pump.

"How does that feel?" I asked as she set up the breast pump.

"So weird." Julia said with a loopy giggle. I could tell she was absolutely exhausted still but she was just happy to be around me and the baby.

"How are you feeling?" I asked as she sighed. "My vagina hurts, but I don't care. I'm just glad she's here." She hummed dreamily.

"I think Sam is bringing the kids in a little while." I said as Julia perked up slightly.

"I miss them. When are they coming?" She asked as I grinned. "I can text Sam." I said and pulled my phone out.

"Great, I want to snuggle little miss Maisie." She said as she finished pumping.

"Okay, sweetheart." I said then stood up. "Wait." She said then looked over at me. "What's wrong?" I asked with concern.

"I just love seeing you with a baby in your arms." She said softly. "Makes me just wanna jump you." She said causing me to laugh.

"Once you're healed, it's on." I said then laid Maisie in her arms.

As soon as I did this she made the cutest noise to ever exist.

It warmed my heart seeing how much Maisie loved Julia. She loved me, too and I could feel that but Julia and Maisie were bonded beyond belief.

Those two have been through hell and back together.

Now it was time for me to protect and love both of them.

From now until forever.

A/N: this is will most likely be the last chapter I post before my surgery. I appreciate the love and support and I can't wait to come back and finish this book up. We still have a little bit left, so I'm hoping you guys stick around. Love you.
