Before the Beast Wars on Animatron, there were 2 kingdoms that specialized in Ice Magic: The Northern Kingdom and the Southern Kingdom. Then, there were the Ice Hunters, a group of warriors that served both kingdoms during Onyx Prime's time on Animatron.
However, Unicron found them and sent Drone after Drone to harvest Energon. The Ice Hunters fought back, but they were corrupted, so they turned on the Southern Kingdom, and they took it over, but one snow queen was powerful enough to freeze the Ice Hunters in a deep sleep. Then, the Snow Queen headed to the Northern Kingdom to start a new life with the Ice King.
And that's for another story.
