Start from the beginning

"Baby Brother?" Garroth whispered, a protective tenderness in his voice, as he felt Zane attempting to pry himself off. He crouched down slowly, setting Zane on the forest floor like a delicate treasure. "How are you feeling?"

"Like heck..." Zane groaned, placing a hand on his forehead. His eyes, squinting against the returning consciousness, held a mix of vulnerability and resilience.

"It wears off," I said, reassurance lacing my words. As Zane steadied himself, we observed the subtle changes in his appearance. The lingering effects of Ein's dark magic slowly faded away, dissipating like mist in the warmth of the morning sunlight.

Zane, now more conscious of his surroundings, searched our faces. "Where's Aphmau?" he questioned, his voice a blend of concern and confusion, as he tried to balance himself with the help of Garroth. The forest, having witnessed the ebb and flow of our emotions, stood as a silent witness to the reunion unfolding amidst its ancient trees.

"She's still with Ein," I stated calmly, my words landing like a weight on the crisp forest air. Zane's eyes widened with a shaky intensity as he processed the information. Garroth, standing beside him, winced slightly, sensing the imminent storm of emotions about to engulf his friend.

"What?!" Zane exclaimed, a sharp edge of surprise and fear cutting through his voice. As I looked closer into his eyes, I saw the subtle tremors, the internal struggle that threatened to spill over.

"Don't worry, Aaron and Lucinda went after them," Kim intervened, her gaze shifting between Zane and me, a silent exchange of understanding passing between us.

"We HAVE to go after them now!" Zane's panic was palpable, his urgency pushing him to the edge of reason.

"Zane, wait!" Garroth cried out, attempting to temper the whirlwind of emotions threatening to consume Zane. Zane, fueled by desperation, removed his arms from Garroth, attempting to leap forward. Our collective eyes widened in surprise as he stumbled, falling to the ground. The snow splashed around our feet as Zane grunted in pain.

Garroth swiftly crouched down next to Zane, placing a supportive arm on his back. "Are you okay, baby brother?"

"Zane, you need to be careful. You're still pretty fragile at the moment," I warned, concern lacing my words. In response, all that echoed through the winter air were the heart-wrenching sobs emanating from Zane. His shoulders shook as he sobbed, a vulnerable display that left Kim and me exchanging worried glances.

"We have to save her! We just have to..." Zane's voice trembled between cries as he pounded the snow, gripping it within his hands, oblivious to the cold biting at his skin. "... I couldn't do it. I couldn't save her... all the bad things he did to her, I couldn't stop it."

As we surrounded Zane in his vulnerable state, the weight of the situation hung heavy in the air. The forest, once a tranquil haven, now echoed with the echoes of despair and determination, weaving a complex tapestry of emotions that begged to be unraveled.

"We need to find them... we need to save Aphmau... p-please... Garroth..." Zane's stammering words cut through the air, each syllable a painful plea that resonated with a desperation I had never witnessed before. His breakdown unfolded right before us, unraveling a side of Zane I had never seen – emotional, vulnerable, and deeply hurt. The forest, once a sanctuary, now bore witness to the turmoil of Zane's anxiety, the winds carrying the echoes of his distress. My own eyes welled up with unshed tears as I watched him crumble beneath the weight of his emotions.

Garroth, his eyes reflecting a mixture of determination and concern, stood up abruptly. His hand clenched into a fist as he looked down at Zane, a silent promise in the unspoken connection between them. "Then let's go find them."
