Chapter Thirteen

After an awkward fourth period with Coach Raleigh, I had never been more relieved to hear the final bell of the day. I was ready for the car ride with Isabelle home, so I could tell her all about lunch, Kev, and plan how to get out of Saturday. So of course my whole demeanor instantly dropped when I seen that Isabelle wasn't the only person standing outside her car. Sebastian was leaning against the passenger door, scrolling through his phone- which reminded me, he still had mine. I also seen the backside of a girl with long blonde hair, who was currently in deep conversation with Isabelle.

I couldn't help but to feel disappointed Isabelle and I wouldn't be alone.

To prevent interrupting Isabelle's conversation, I  stood beside Sebastian. "Give me my phone back, now."

Sebastian laughed as he produced my phone from his pocket, "here you can have this thing. It's been going off all day." He tossed it to me, and thankfully I caught it just in time.

As I went through my text messages, I discovered they had all been opened. "Care to explain to me why all my messages are in the read folder?"

Instead of responding, Sebastian just sent a smirk in my direction.

I quickly sent a text to Kev, apologizing  for not responding. I could feel Sebastian reading over my shoulder, which made me type even faster.  After hitting send, I slid my phone in my front pocket- hoping it was out of Sebastian's reach.

As if she was just now noticing me, Isabelle called out, "Sam, hey!" The girl she was talking to, turned around and looked me up and down. As she did this, I studied her perfect facial features. She had piercing blue eyes, with long eyelashes that girls spend hours trying to get, her lips were full and naturally pink, and she had a small layer of freckles that spread across her nose and cheeks. I couldn't imagine what I would look like standing in between her and Isabelle.

"This is Kelly" Isabelle said, pulling me out of my thoughts. "She's riding with us today, so is Sebastian." Isabelle's smile never faded, so I did my best to look happy. But I wasn't happy. I was looking forward to talking to Isabelle, but that was impossible with Sebastian, and perfect Kelly.

I started for the passenger seat, but just as I was reaching for the handle, Kelly stood in between me and the door. "I think I should sit up here." I couldn't protest because Kelley was flashing me a pearly white smile, that for some reason intimidated me. Instead I let my mouth open and close, searching for something to say. "Isabelle and I , have tons of homework to discuss." With a french manicured hand she puts one of her blonde locks behind her ear and sends another smile in my direction, before opening the car door for herself.

I glance at Isabelle, to see if she witnessed mine and Kelly's exchange, but she was already in the drivers seat singing along to whatever was playing on the radio.

Once I slid into the backseat beside Sebastian, I asked him where his car was. He chuckled for a moment before saying, "It's in the shop."

Not interested in hearing whatever story Sebastian had to tell, I said "Oh" and turned to face the window.

Once we got to my house, Isabelle still hadn't said anything to me. But Sebastian on the other hand never stopped. The whole ride consisted of joke and comments about Kev. Mostly I just replied with "What do you care?" I pretty much jumped out Isabelle's car, as soon as it came to a stop. Much to my dismay, Sebastian was following closely behind me.

"What are you doing?" Surprisingly, Isabelle and Kelly were watching Sebastian just as curiously as I was.

"We do have a project to work on." Sebastian said.

Isabelle crinkled her nose, "Have fun. I'll see you tomorrow morning!" She called in my direction as she backed her car out of the driveway, falling into chatter with Kelly.

Sebastian must of caught me sending hate-glares in Kelly's direction because he said, "You want my sister all to yourself." It only annoyed me because it was true.

I slid the key into the door, and was surprised to discover it was already unlocked. I gently pushed the door open and crept in. There were no cars in the driveway, so my Mother wasn't here.

"That's weird, I locked it this morning." I muttered.

Sebastian didn't seem worried at all. So I decided not to show him that I was.  As we got closer to the living room, I heard the low murmur of the television. I couldn't help but to let my steps slow, and let Sebastian walk ahead of me.

Once we reached the living room, I gasped at the sight of the man on my couch.
