Born Aki Ouma, Kiki is Kokichi's seven-year-old cousin who, like Kokichi, is very mischievous and playful, but has to hide it under a prim and demure exterior due to her rich parents always trying to get her to be a "proper lady." Also like Kokichi, Kiki is highly intelligent with a sharp wit and a calculating mind. Unlike Kokichi, however, Kiki isn't a liar, however, she does have a pretty convincing poker face, most likely as a result of her putting up a front to hide her next move when playing against her opponents in chess.

Kiki has no siblings, and she finds her peers at school to be rather boring, since she attends a school for rich, stuck-up, snobby kids. As a result, Kiki feels lonely often, and thus spends some of her time with her eccentric, yet interesting, butler, Jiji, either playing a few games of chess, baking, or listening to him tell stories. Despite her parents wanting her to act and dress like a proper lady, Kiki was able to convince them to let her choose her own style of outfits. She dresses in a style reminiscent of punk lolita fashion.

Every year, her parents drag her to Kyoto to see a kabuki theatre performance, which, to Kiki, is no different than opera: pure torture. Instead, Kiki prefers sumo wrestling, which her parents disapprove of because they think it's "too violent." Kiki has been wanting to see a sumo wrestling match her whole life, but her parents won't allow her. So, while her parents are out, or asleep, she secretly watches it on T.V. Even though Kiki's parents are uptight and a bit bougie, they are kind and loving towards their daughter. Perhaps they act the way they do because they're trying to run away from a dark past they kept secret from their daughter her whole life.
