Three friends, Monse, Jamal, and Ruby, lingered outside the vibrant party scene, scanning the dancing crowd for their two missing friends, Cesar and Kelly. Amidst the music, they observed Ruby's older sibling, Mario, making out with his girlfriend in the middle of the party.
"Do you see them? I don't see them" Monse asked, squinting her eyes as she continued looking for her friends.
"Something bad is happening. I can feel it" Jamal said after, looking into the party. "I knew this was a bad idea"
"Pop a xanax , J" Ruby told him. "We can't see them because they're being stealth"
"No doubt" Monse shook her head. "When has Cesar ever disappointed?"
"Fourth grade. Kickball tourney" Jamal sighed at the thought. "We lost"
"Well he was dumb enough to chose the one with no skills" they heard and turned to see their friends standing there with drinks.
"And I would pick him again" Cesar smiled tossing them all drinks. "Loyalty triumphs victory, compa"
Kelly made a face to that as she sipped her own drink. "I'd pick anyone over my brother in a kickball tourney if that means i win over him" she said shrugging as Cesar laughed.
"Yea besides Antonio" he agreed as the friends looked back out into the party. "This is about to be us. This is high school"
Kelly grimaced at the thought. If this was high school then she didn't want it. Not one bit. grinding on each other and kissing random people. STD's waiting to happen and she wasn't here for it.
"You think that Mario is gonna marry Angelica ruby?" Kelly asked as she had spotted the two when she was in the party earlier. It was a disturbing sight for her.
"No idea. Mario tells me jack" Ruby shrugged his shoulders.
"What about that time he said Angelica had a dangler?" Jamal laughed and Kelly looked at Ruby shocked.
"As in her down there lips are long and dangly or as in she has a dick dangler?" she asked in all seriousness and Cesar leaned against the girl laughing hard. "Deadass Ruby. Not judging but still"
"But he said that"
"In private" Ruby said mortified, ignoring Kelly's question. "Time and place dude" he looked out into her party. "Oh, guys. Check out Huerta at nine o'clock"
"Stop looking at her Ruby" Kelly told him immediately once she heard the name but he didn't listen. "Ruby I'm serious take your eyes off her"
"Monse if you wear a girl" Ruby started to say.
"I am a girl" she said back.
"You sure?" Kelly sipped her drink as Monse glared at her.
"Yeah but if you were a girl like that, would you wear underwear?" Kelly hit Ruby's arm.
"Ruby, stop staring," Kelly reprimanded, stepping down from the ledge. She made her way over to Jamal, who was in a state of panic over the football game. As she observed Jamal's hyperventilation, she struggled to contain her laughter, and her amusement grew instantly upon hearing Ruby's labored breathing. Recognizing the signs, Kelly understood what was happening.
"Told him to stop" she looked at Cesar. "No one wants to listen to me" she laughed looking at Ruby who's as being held by a member of the Santos gang, Sad Eyes.
"You eyeing my girl, cabron" he asked Ruby as Kelly hid her drink behind her back.
She knew they wouldn't snitch to her dad or brother if she did but if her brother, who was no doubt close by, saw then it would be another story.
