Valerie asked tentatively.

“If I tell you, will you respect my wishes?” Kieran nodded.

“I will. Just tell me what you think. I will respect your choice and deal with this accordingly.” It was the first time that Reese talked to Valerie so gently.

Valerie felt flattered.

This was a good opportunity for her to express her opinions.

She looked back at the two tall men who were looking down at her.

“Kieran, Father, I don’t want to make a big deal out of this. I want to make friends on my

own. I was bullied today, but I took care of it. They won’t cause me trouble ag ain.”

After Valerie finished speaking, Reese’s face darkened.

Kieran went forward and took Reese’s arm.

Kieran walked to Valerie and knelt on one knee.

“Can you tell me why you don’t want us to help you? Do you really want to make friends by yourself?”

Valerie didn’t look at Kieran and only nodded.

“I don’t want your help…”

Valerie murmured in a daze. Kieran was near her and heard it clearly.

Kieran scratched his thin hand and lowered his head.

Valerie nodded and agreed.

Kieran pursed his lips and stood up, pulling Reese out.

“Dad, let’s go out now.

Realizing Valerie didn’t want to rely on them or tell others she was a Horton, Reese was distressed.

When the two men left Valerie’s room, Reese violently shook Kieran’s hand away. “Since she wants to do it on her own, let her try! We are of no help here!” Kieran frowned in frustration and rubbed the spot between his brows.

“Enough! Dad, Valerie hasn’t cried or complained to

you since she came back. What more do you want? She is wounded. If you ke ep yelling at her, how can she be a normal girl?”
