Chapter-six (PANCHMI)

As the sun began to cast its warm, golden glow upon a new day, my mother's voice pulled me from my slumber.
"Jaanhvi, wake up! It's Panchmi"
she exclaimed.
My eyes widened as I realized what day it was.
"Wowww!! I had totally forgotten today is Panchmi"
I replied, feeling a rush of excitement.

"Oh God! I need to run and go to the pandal"
I hurriedly said, leaping out of bed and making a dash for the festivities.

"Hey, guys!"
I called out as I approached my friends, who were already busy with preparations. Mitisha greeted me with a playful remark, "Oh, there she comes."

"Any work?"
I inquired, eager to lend a hand.

"Yeah, we need your help"
Shubang replied.

"Tell me, tell me"
I urged.

"So, we've decorated the entire pandal, but we can't decide on the color for the wall hanging"
Shubang explained.

"Can we just try royal blue and red colors?"
I suggested, and Mitisha and the others quickly agreed. It seemed like the perfect choice.

"What about the preparation for dinner?"
I inquired, concerned about every detail.

"I've sent the menu to the chef, and the catering will arrive by 5 pm"
Ritik assured me.

"Is there anything else?"
I pressed.

"Don't take tension, Jaanhvi. You've been working so hard; you should take some rest"
Shubang advised.

"Yeah, no need to stress"
Mitisha chimed in.

I couldn't help but worry.
"I just want everything to be perfect."

Shubang reassured me
"Don't think too much, Jaanhvi. Everything is going well."

As the clock neared 2 pm, we decided to go home and meet up at 5 pm when  the catering would arrive. Alisha suggested we have lunch, and we all agreed.

After a brief break, we reconvened for the final preparations. Mitisha and I ensured everything was ready for a new couple's arrival, and we even coordinated the timing for Shubang and Ritik to join us at 4:30 pm.

Conversation with Alisha,Ritik and Mitisha

"Did you tell Shubang to come here at 4:30 pm?"
Alisha asked Ritik.

"Yeah, I did. Don't worry"
he assured her.

"I messaged Jaanhvi to come to this place at 4:30 pm. As both couples arrive, we'll make our exit"
Mitisha instructed.

We all agreed and said our goodbyes, promising to meet again at the designated time.

4:30 pm rolled around, and I called out to my friends
"Guys, are you here?"
The place was undeniably beautiful.

"Isn't it?"
Shubang whispered, sneaking up from behind.

"Oh you're here too! Actually, Mitisha messaged me to come here"
I admitted.

"Ritik did the same for me"
Shubang confessed.

Something felt amiss.
"Do you think something's wrong?" Shubang asked, his voice filled with uncertainty.

I wasn't sure what was happening, but I suggested
"Let's try messaging them." We both sent messages but received no response.

A sudden realization hit me like a lightning bolt.
"They made us come here intentionally"
I said.

"Let's get out of here"
I urged, and together, we started heading for the exit.

But then, a voice interrupted our escape. "Stop! Stop!"
Mitisha and Alisha yelled, catching up to us.

"Oh, what happened?"
Ritik asked catching up

"They were leaving"
Mitisha explained.

Shubang confronted them
"Why did you send us here?"

Alisha smirked mischievously
"Nothing, just a prank!"

Frustration boiled inside me
"You two chipmunks come here"
I said as i called Alidha and Mitisha
"Why are you even trying?! Do you think I'd ever be able to confess?!"
I exclaimed, feeling my cheek  s turn a shade of crimson.
