Qin Yan gasped softly as he listened to Fu Changling's voice. After a while, he gradually eased up, snapped the sword's sheath shut, and set it aside before asking with a sigh of relief, "What are you doing here?"

Seeing Qin Yan sitting up, Fu Changling straightened up. Fearing his displeasure, he stood up, waited on the side, smiled, and replied, "I heard Shīxiōng talking in his sleep, so I came over to see what was going on. I just happened to see Shīxiōng kicking the quilt, and I was concerned he'd catch a cold."

Upon hearing "kicking the quilt", Qin Yan stiffened for a moment, and then he responded, "No harm done. I had a nightmare. Go ahead and go to bed."

"A nightmare?" Fu Changling sized him up and asked, hesitantly, "What did Shīxiōng dream about?"

Qin Yan leaned back on the bed, seemingly a little worn out, and said nothing. "Just now, I heard Shīxiōng keep calling out to Shīfù," continued Fu Changling. "Was it a dream that something horrible happened to Shīfù?"

"It's nothing," answered Qin Yan, his voice sounding a bit weary. "Go ahead and go to bed first. We still have a ton of catching up to do tomorrow."

Fu Changling responded and turned away to walk out. After a few steps, he couldn't help but turn back around and see Qin Yan partially laying on the bed with his eyes closed. The moonlight was as cold as hoar frost, illuminating him and making his entire person appear to be somewhat lonesome and alone in this world.

When Fu Changling looked at that person, he was instantly reminded of the shadow he saw when he opened his eyes in his previous life, while he was sleeping at the Wangyue Palace following his death.

He couldn't help but return and stand in front of Qin Yan. Realizing he was back, Qin Yan opened his eyes wide, slightly bewildered. "Why are you back?"

"Shīxiōng," he said earnestly as he grabbed a cattail hassock and sat down on his knees on the floor, "tell me about your nightmare. I'll listen."

"What's there to tell?"

"Tell me," Fu Changling urged, looking at him with sincerity in his eyes. "One person's state of mind will be shared by two."

Qin Yan was at a loss for words. He just stared at Fu Changling for a while before he drawled, "You don't have to do this."

"This has nothing to do with love." Knowing the source of his concern, Fu Changling stated firmly, "Even if it were Mingyan, Yun Yu, or Xie Shījiě right now, I would have asked this much. After all, aren't you and I fellow disciples too?"

As Qin Yan remained silent, Fu Changling likewise waited in silence. He seemed to be holding off on leaving until Qin Yan said something.

The fact that Qin Yan didn't ask him to leave right away gave Fu Changling a lot of courage. He simply sat still for quite a while before finally hearing Qin Yan's voice.

"I dreamt that Shīfù died," Qin Yan murmured in a low, hoarse voice, closing his eyes.

Fu Changling responded, then heard Qin Yan add, "At first, I was on a bridge, holding an umbrella, waiting for someone. In fact, I knew that the person would never come, yet I couldn't help waiting."

Fu Changling looked up with a deep-seated gaze in his eyes. Suddenly, it dawned on him that what Qin Yan was talking about might not be a dream.

He was someone who came back from a previous life. Therefore, could it be that Qin Yan had a glimpse of his previous life in his dream?

He was a little scared, and for a moment, he wasn't sure whether it would be better for Qin Yan to know about this or not. He stared at Qin Yan in silence, then heard him continue, "Then I received a voice transmission informing me that something had happened to Shīfù and that I should return immediately. I rushed back, but it was pouring rain that day, and the sky was so dark and overcast that I was unable to see anything through the rain and fog."
