Stopped at an abandoned gas station I stand outside beside the empty and desolate cars watching as Joel starts to siphon the gas out of the cars that lay around "we have to do this every hour?" Ellie frustratingly asked as she made her way over to us "gas breaks down over time. This stuff's almost water." I responded while looking up at her "back in the day, we'd drive 10, 12 hours on one tank. You could go anywhere." Joel remarked "so, where'd you go?" Ellie asked him with curiosity laced in her voice "pretty much nowhere." He replied as I giggled at him.
Watching in amazement as he began siphoning the gas fairly quickly "nice! How does that work?" Ellie asked "it's a siphon. It's when liquid...travels against gravity because pressure-." Joel trailed off "you don't know." I quipped with a smirk on my face as I looked down at him "I know it works. No wandering." He snapped as I began pacing back and forth on the sidewalk in boredom "okay. This is your fault then. It doesn't matter how much you push the envelope, it'll still be stationery." Ellie read while giggling in the process "oh, god. That was absolutely horrible just...shoot me already." I groaned "No Pun Intended, Volume Too by Will Livingston. Volume Too. Look. You get it? Too? Like, T-o-o." She smiled.
"Jesus." Joel muttered lowly "what did the mermaid wear to her math class? An algae bra. Like algae bra. I stayed up all night-." Ellie laughed "no." I mumbled "wondering where the sun went...and then it dawned on me." She giggled "feel free to wait in the truck." I smirked "ugh, okay, but just know, you two can't escape Will Livingston. He'll be back. There's nothing you can do to stop him." She said while I shook my head at her before finally hopping back in the truck as we begin trekking through the empty streets desperately trying to get to where we need to go.
