A first time for everything

The rain poured like water from a faucet, with such ferocity it made me not want to leave my apartment. However, it was my first day as in intern for the BAU. I was allowed to on a trial basis. Seeing as I'm 25, still a kid to majority of the world, my presence at the BAU is going to be an adjustment for everyone. Granted, we're all adult enough to look past the age discrepancy, especially since I worked my ass off to get this. I've earned it.

I looked in my mirror and smoothed my blouse as I took in my new business attire. Black slacks, white button up, and a black blazer. I admit I looked pretty good, which helped ease my nerves a bit, having the little boost of confidence. I took my coffee and bag and was out the door.

Looking up at the FBI Headquarters I felt an insurmountable feeling of insignificance. My sudden epiphany of self awareness was interrupted by a tall raven haired woman with a smile that could light up Vegas.

"You look a little lost" she chuckled.

"First day" I laughed nervously. "is that obvious?"

"Where are you headed?" she replied.

   "the BAU"

"wait, are you the new intern?"

"In the flesh" I joked before reaching my hand out to shake hers. "I'm Y/n, Y/n Y/l/n"

"Emily Prentiss" she smiled. "I'm part of the BAU"

I felt a sense of relief having met a team member outside of the formal introductions.

"Care to lead the way?" I gestured towards the door and followed Emily.

The doors to the BAU bustled with agents and unfamiliar faces. It was overwhelming for sure but in an odd way it was comforting. I was never one for boredom so a fast pace work environment was right up my alley.

"You must Ms. Y/l/n, I'm Aaron Hotchner, BAU unit chief"

I shook hands with the instantly dominant man and gave a smile.

"It's an honor to be here Sir"

"I see you've met Agent Prentiss" he nodded at Emily. "Let me introduce you to the rest of the team" he spoke encouraging me to follow him.

"This SSA Jennifer Jareau and Dr Spencer Reid"

    "Y/n Y/l/n" I said as I extended my hand.

"Please call me JJ" she smiled shaking my hand.

"It's a pleasure but I'm not really into hand shaking" Reid spoke. "Do you know how many germs are exchanged in just one hand shake" he started before Hotch cut him off.

   "Reid, another time?"

Spencer nodded and Hotch continued on.

"SSA Derek Morgan and as I'm sure you know Dr. Alex Blake"

"Y/n it's great to see you again!" Alex smiled.

"Dr. Blake, how have you been?"

"Please, call me Alex, I'm not your professor anymore, I'm your colleague" she insisted.

I had known Alex Blake from the linguistics class I had taken. She was the one who recommended me for this job.

"I hate to cut this short but we do have a few things to discuss" Hotch looked at me and I nodded to Blake and Morgan before following him into his office.

"Please, sit" he gestured to the chair in front of his desk. "So, I understand you have great interest in behavioral profiling?"

"Yes Sir, for as long as I can remember"
