twenty-one: bandaids don't fix bulletholes

Scott was on his feet, kicking Jackson in the back and sending him stumbling. Jackson turned and punched Scott in the jaw, but Rowan was up now and ignoring the blaring pain in the back of her head.

The girl struck her knife into the Kanima's back, the lizard shrieked as she pulled it out and sent a harsh kick to its back. While it was distracted, Derek tried to punch it from the front but Jackson's hand shot out and stabbed Derek in the chest.

It was just Rowan and Jackson now.

"Come on Jackson, im tired," Rowan complained as she dodged Jacksons' swipe at her. The girl ran up towards a pile of crates, using the momentum to jump up and send a high kick right to the side of its head.

Issac was up now, watching as Rowan tried her best to keep Jackson occupied. The boy started for the girl but Allison had other plans.

The girl quickly sent two knives straight through his stomach, Issac roared in pain.

Rowan looked up from where she had her boot on Jackson's throat, a knife poised in the air. Her face fell when she watched Allison stab both daggers into Issac's back, the boy collapsed to the floor.

Rowan screamed as she threw a throwing knife in Allison's direction, the Argent hissed when it barely escaped her shoulder. Rowan gave Jackson's head a hard kick before she set off on the huntress.

"Bitch." Rowan spat as she took Allison by the shoulders and kicked her hard in the gut. Allison gasped in pain but she knew Rowan was going easy on her.

Of course, she was, this was still Allison Argent. One of her few friends, her brother's biggest love.

Rowan could've sent the knife straight through her shoulder, sent a punch to her face, and even kicked her harder in the gut. But Rowan knew Allison would bounce back from that kick, that it wouldn't do much harm other than some bruising.

It made Allison feel guilty, it made Rowan feel impossibly frustrated.

But neither girl saw it coming when Rowan was suddenly knocked to the floor beside Issac, with Allison in the Kanima's tight grip.

Everyone stopped to watch as the Kanima positioned its claws in front of her throat, one wrong move and she would be sliced open.

Rowan used the time to quickly throw Issac's arm over her shoulder, the two of them still couched on the floor as they looked between Allison, the Kanima, and the rest of them nervously.

"You okay?" Rowan asked worriedly, her face inches away from Issac. He nodded tiredly, transforming back into his human form.

"Can we just crouch here for a minute?" Issac whispered drowsily, Rowan felt at his stomach wounds. The bleeding had already stopped, he was starting to heal.

"Okay," Rowan whispered as Gerard stepped toward Allison and Jackson.

"Not yet sweetheart," Gerard said.

"What are you doing?" Allison asked shakily, eyes laced in fear.

"He's doing what he came here to do," Scott said miserably. Rowan and Issac were lost.

"Then you know," Gerard said, more of a statement than a question.

"What is he talking about?" Allison asked anxiously.

"It was that night outside the hospital when I threatened your mother? I knew i saw something in your eyes. You could just smell it could you?" Gerard asked amused. Issac looked up, his eyes narrowed.

"He's dying," Issac revealed. Rowan and he exchanged frowns before glancing back at Scott and Gerard.

"I am. I have been for a while now. Unfortunately, science doesn't have a cure for cancer yet. But the supernatural does." Gerard smiled icily.
