Wind howled through the night, carrying a scent that would change the world. The sudden shine of light shook Delphi's eyes back to reality. If it had been any longer, she swore she would have forgotten what the world looked like. She didn't remember how she had gotten here or how long it had been.

Soon that wouldn't matter. It finally struck her that this "world" didn't mean anything to her.

She had never seen it before, not really anyway. And she spoke from her heart when she said "I don't want this world."

It didn't mean much to her then, just another word she managed to spurt out. Now, now was different. She realised she was stuck in the past which was much worse. So much worse.

And from that moment forward, she swore to never forget what brought her here. Specifically here, not to Azkaban, not to her loneliness, but to this moment exactly.

Delphi slowed her breath and listened to the sound of the trees, the wind, the stars.

For the first time she understood how the world can be beautiful. It was her fault the world hadn't been beautiful to her.

It was a time for yet's and mistakes and forgiveness. The world had outnumbered her but it wasn't the last time she'd be powerful. Though it did remind her of those times, she couldn't live in her memories forever.

It would be the death of her, she knew that. She was more than a downfall. She finally understood what that meant. She was adrenaline.

Afterall, she wouldn't have let the rest of her life look like that.

They really thought she was ordinary, that she wasn't capable and intelligent. Soon she figured out the little things in the world and it wasn't so poor anymore.

It was the easiest way to solve her problems and it worked for a while. Enough to not be caught.

But don't worry, she was lucky in this moment and at this time. She was existing for the first time in her life and well- the fires in her path were left to burn.

Delphi sighed, "Is that all?"

"Is that all?" The Auror repeated back to her.

"Listen..." she said as she cracked her knuckles.

"It doesn't matter what I say or do because we all know who we're going to believe at the end of the day so what's the point in trying."

"I want to hear-"

"Let me guess- you want to hear my side of the story, right?"

He nodded, his jaw tightened and bawled his hand into a fist.

Delphi took a breath, "usually I would say I was meant for this, that this world wasn't my own so I made it that way but you see- it was different."

"So much more different than the press portrayed it anyway so if you want to hear my side of the story, you're just going to have to look a little further."

"Is that important?"

"Yes. I had one chance. One."

"But that doesn't seem to make a difference here."

"Why not?" He asked, raising his ever so slightly in question.

"As I said, they always believe the victim."

The Auror stretched his arms forward, it had been a long day. Maybe even a little too long.

"Listen..."

"You're trying to help me, I know," she said in a mocking tone.

"But I'm not going to help you-"

"Please, Delphini, let's get this over with," the man pleaded.

She sighed, she's never liked being addressed by her full name. It was way too formal, even for her.

"The truth hurts."

"It's not fair if we don't-"

"You know what's not fair, do you really want to know?" She asked, looking the Auror in his eyes for the first time today.

"This world. This world is not fair. For years, I thought if only I could escape this living hell, I could finally live in the world."

"But not this world, this world has a motto of the more blood the better. We need violence. This world doesn't keep in check without it. And that's what is not fair. That children grow up with the principle of pain and suffering and without remorse."

"You know, the sad part is I actually would have believed you a couple years back. I would have really thought I wouldn't need this to be powerful. I wouldn't need this drug, but you know what?"

"I think everyone needs something once in a while, that's the truth and it may be a little too hard to bear sometimes but that's what life is."

"So if you really want to ask for information, I would rather talk about my future than getting stuck in the past."

"To sum it up, the past will haunt you- I have hurt and I have felt remorse. And that's the smart thing about it, maybe I wouldn't have if I didn't get caught but the world is what the world is so I'm going to rot here for the rest of my years and that's how it's going to be."

"Whether I have a case or not doesn't matter, there's nothing that can save me at this point."

"Save you? What makes you think you can't be saved?"

"Well...can I?"

The Auror stared back at her surprised, feeling sorry almost but mostly surprised. "So what? Are you blaming your troubles on the world? The world didn't drive you to do this-"

"I drive the world."

"Or something like that, right? It's funny because it's true, that's the way our society thinks and that's one reason why there's people like me in the system."

"People like you," he repeats, slowing each word down.

"Yes. People like me."

"Is that too hard for you to hear or do you have enough of a confession yet?"

The Auror took a moment, catching his breath.

"It's not just about the confession, in situations like these-"

"Situations, exactly what situation am I in?" She scoffed, "please tell me, I want to hear you say it."

His face stayed straight, she was right about one thing. It wasn't fair what this world has come too but she wasn't the first to apologise to the world.

"You're right about one thing, the truth hurts."

"I don't want your pity. It won't do anything for me, it is how it is."

"It is how it is?"

"Look- I don't have anybody, this world doesn't have a plan for me."

"And in the end, it wasn't enough- whatever I did to get here and it never will be."

"You can do whatever you want with me but don't doubt for a second that I won't escape."
