''Y/n, can you hear me?'' I say gently patting her cheek.
''Come on girl. We gotta get out' here..'' I grumble.
Her mouth opens slightly. Her dry lips move slowly as she tries to form some words. Her eyebrows turn into a frown. Just seconds ago she was this uncontrollable bulb of rage, and now nothing of her fierce exterior is left.
I miss her profanities already.
''Easy..'' I say stern, jet gentle, trying my best to soothe her as I lift her up, carrying her in my arms.
She is alive, that's all that matters now.
Another few smaller explosions sound in the distance. My mind is racing as I realize we have been found. Vince is wasting no time trying to take us out.
I start running. Trying to create as much distance between us and the explosions as I can. I'm holding Y/N tightly to my chest, so as to not shake her too much. Her face rests against my vest, her eyes still shut.
I don't know where I am going. Dodging trees and boulders, trying not to slip on the muddy puddles deep within the forest. The explosions are still rumbling in the background.
The sound of tires screeching makes me stop in my tracks. My eyes dart around as I tighten my grip even more around y/n.
No way can I fight them like this.
Between the trees I see the headlights of a vehicle. my breath hitches in my throat as I hear the doors opening and slamming shut.
I start walking backwards, my eyes glued to the sight as I try to calculate our chances.
''Ghost!''
My heart beats faster as I recognize the voice instantly. Soap.
He comes rushing towards us. Looking happy at first, but seeing y/n in my arms makes him let out a loud gasp.
''Christ..''
''I know. Take us out of here. Now'' I say sternly.
It seems like Vince' men also heard Soaps van arriving as we hear footsteps rushing behind us, followed by bullets flying past our heads.
Soap and I both crouch down instinctively.
''Take Y/N' I command Soap as I stretch my arms out, knowing instantly I have to change the plan.
His eyes widen, as he reads my expression.
''You can't be serious. What about you?''
He already knows. He knows me too well.
I take the rifle I stole from the guard of my shoulder, raising it in my hands in response.
''Take Y/N to the med bay at the base. Im making sure no one will follow.''
I turn away from Soap as he starts cursing at me, gently taking y/n in his arms.
''Go Soap. That's an order. Get her to safety''
I glance over my shoulder, my expression serious yet worried as I look at the still limp y/n in Soap's arms.
I am praying she will start cursing and complaining again soon.
Soap sighs, knowing it's useless to disobey an order from his Lieutenant. He gives me a goodluck nod as he rushes back to the van.
I quickly check the mag on the rifle, my heart dropping slightly as I see it's only half full.
Let's hope it's enough.
The bullet rain doesn't stop as I maneuver closer to the men following us. Trying to lure them away from Soap and y/n.
Saving my bullets I try to taunt them into shooting me. Hoping they run out before I do.
