In the Embrace of Dreams

In the midst of the night, I silently wait,

For sleep's gentle touch, my restless state.

Yet, it's you, once more, who takes the stage,

Invading my peaceful mind, like an olden sage.

Perhaps I'm stuck here due to my own demise,

Unable to sever the ties, despite my cries.

To release you entirely, break the tether,

Yet you persist within my thoughts, altogether.

I feel the pain, the yearning's fervent flame,

Craving your embrace, though it carries shame.

Dreams of you beside me, my heart's delight,

Dreams of holding you, throughout the night.

I know it's wrong, this nightly rendezvous,

You cling to me like some mysterious voodoo.

You drain my strength, possess my heart's core,

It's you alone my soul continues to adore.

Even when the world protests, it's you I choose,

Even when your choices stir up others' views.

Even when they dissent, it's you I hold dear,

You, and only you, my heart persists to revere.

I'm aware I'm far from your thoughts, it's true,

But can I not dream, despite this rue?

For in the realm of dreams, I find my scope,

Because reaching you, I've abandoned that hope.
