Hope seems so far away
Like it's forever out of reach
But once there was someone
Who made me believe in me
She was smart and gorgeous
Not a flaw to see
And even greater still
She saw something in me
I don't know what it was
Weather looks, mind or neither
But for one fleeting moment
I had a partner to guide my way
And she brought hope to me
Inside my desperate grasp
She made me feel so special
Lit paths I couldn't pass
But then the flame diminished
The candle met the wind
And hope again floated
Away from my open hands
