Our Love

I grieved our love

As Achilles grieved Patroclus

With every being in my body

I shook with tears

But also with rage

I knew it was my fault

But I never thought

It would send you away

I never meant to hurt you

And you never meant to lie

I should have heard your screams

And all your cries

But instead I watched

blinded by rage

I only cared to see what was right in front of me

Maybe I'm just weak

And maybe you were wrong

We should have fought for this love

The same way I fought

to tear you down

We did this ourselves

We threw it to the wind

Because we knew every ounce

Of this was gonna fail

I regret what I did

I was selfish and silenced

By myself

and now of you

I should have seen the problem there

Not months later

I should've seen it

When I was screaming and fighting

And beating you down

This was all my fault

I am to blame

But maybe

Just maybe

You are the same
