"Tricia! Are you okay?" Nurse Rose was rushed towards Tricia as the stretched wheeled into the ER.

"I'm fine. Male, 31. Gunshot wounds to the shoulder, arms and lower abdomen...." Tricia gave Nurse Rose a nod before yelling out instructions.

"Doc Tricia!" Justin came running.

"Let me borrow this. Breathing and heart rate are weak...what's his vitals?" Tricia grabbed Justin's stethoscope as the younger doctor took Jayden's vitals.

"Not looking good." Justin frowned.

"Call Professor Mark and put in a request for an OR." Tricia ordered.

"On it!" Justin ran off immediately.

"Don't you dare leave me, Rivera." Tricia's warned as watched Jayden's heartbeat on the monitor. It was weak but constant.

"Doc Tricia, I need you here!" One of the nurses called out. All the victims from the crossfire were brought to the hospital.

"I'll watch over Jayden. I'll let you know when Professor Mark is here." Nurse Rose offered.

"Thank you." Tricia wanted to stay with Jayden but she knew she had responsibilities as a doctor.

"Doc Tricia, Professor Mark is looking for you." Justin found Tricia checking up on one of the injured police officers.

"Did something happen?" Tricia ran towards Jayden's bed.

"He's holding on well but I need to operate on the patient immediately. Do you know who we can contact for permission?" Professor Mark asked.

"I'll sign. I'm his girlfriend." Tricia's sudden confession surprised both her mentor and junior.

"What are you waiting for, transport the patient to the OR now!" Professor Mark looked at Justin.

"...Noted..." Justin regained his composure.

"Don't worry Tricia, I'll return him to you." Professor Mark assured his mentee.

"Thank you, Professor..." Tricia gave the older man a weak smile.

"I'll get the OR to update you periodically. I'll leave you to explain things to his next-of-kin?" Professor Mark asked.

"Will do, Professor." Tricia wasn't sure how she was supposed to break the news to Lola.

"The OR is ready." Justin returned.

"I'll be waiting for you, panga." Tricia whispered as she kissed Jayden's forehead.

"Doc Tricia! Bed 3!" Tricia was paged the next second.

"Tricia!" Tricia turned at the familiar voice.

"Lola...slowly..." Tricia helped the anxious elderly woman to the chair.

"Is Apo okay?" Lola was visibly distraught.

"They're operating on him now but he'll be fine. He will." Tricia hugged Lola.

"Daniel said he'll explain everything later...But for now, let's just pray that Jayden will be fine." Ella had accompanied Lola to the hospital since the elderly lady was still staying in the Torres' house.

"I'm just grateful that Apo is alive...I thought we'd never see him again..." Lola shed a tear. She'd been holding on to the hope that her grandson would be alive but even the strongest hope faltered.

"Jayden told me that he really missed you, Lola. Especially your bread." Tricia comforted Lola.

"When that boy wakes up, he can have all the bread he wants." Lola let out a small smile. She'd spoil him with all the bread in her bakery.
