It didn't make any sense, he couldn't even read through it. He had only finished it for curiosity's sake. And to think that this book was a best seller in its time...
At some point, he'd fallen asleep.
...
The sun is dipping down in the horizon, colouring the room in a dim, amber lighting. The flutter of his eyelids awaken him from his deep slumber. It was an unwarranted nap, but in his defence, he had a lot on his mind.
Sun's glinting light slowly entered his eyes as he sat up. He sat there for a few seconds, eyes glued to the window, taking in every moment of the setting sun.
His mind lingers on one thing.
His room is dead silent.
He exhaled lightly. The immense boredom even after that long rest is still haunting him. He was tempted to just go out and hang around somewhere. Somewhere new would be preferable.
...
"Be patient." He rubbed the bridge of his nose, getting up from the couch and going to his kitchen. "You'll get your vacation once you figure this out." He spoke to no one in particular but himself.
He brewed himself a hot coffee. Making sure to not put anything in it that he could use to add flavour. Anything but water and the beans are unacceptable.
Back to the couch again, he sat with a hot mug in hand. He looked for his remote control and found it 2 minutes later at the crevices inside the couch. He didn't have any idea on how it could possibly get in there, but it did.
There's nothing interesting on the TV. Just news, cartoons, soap dramas, Indian soap dramas, Travel shows, etc, etc.
Eventually he sticks with National Geographic. About why a single horse has 5 horsepower.
...
At 10 pm, he had drunk every bit of his coffee, much to his dismay. But nevertheless, stays on the couch, watching regardless of the lack of beverage to accompany him with.
At 11 pm, the show ended, switching over to a new one on how to survive a winter in the tundra without any clothes on. Biology nor anatomy has never really been his strong subject, but even he knew it was impossible. One thing he also didn't know about is why you're sleepy during the night no matter the amount of rest you get during the day.
When 12 am was reached, it happened again.

The blaring sound of the alarm clock echoed through the room. Accelerator's eyes snapped open. For a moment, he was confused. But once everything registered into his fatigued mind, an angry scowl made its way across his face.
This is the 5th time this has happened. And of all the ones he'd gone through, there was one activity that he's done in all of them without fail. And it might just be the one.
Jumping up from the bed and heading towards his kitchen, he took a glass jar and slammed it onto the floor. Its contents spilled, loitering the creamy white tiles.
He knelt down and brought his middle finger up. "You son of a bitch, I trusted you, you little shit! I trusted you!" He felt as if the coffee beans were staring right back at him.
He swept his hands, sending them scattering across the room. His mind is so disoriented, his calculations are down, and so is his defense. A small glass cuts through his skin, tearing through it with such ease.
He groaned in pain, the shock sent him slamming his back onto the cupboard. The hissing pain is his only anchor to reality. "Fuck." He mumbles, shakily staring at the massive scar it's gonna leave.
