September's First Tides

That first chill in the air -

something changes

with the first tide

of September winds.

The heat's last hold fades

not soon enough for the

watchers of season's change.

Eager for the colors to turn

and the dip into cool breezes

is a painful slow burn.

We crave the crisp mornings

and the orange-painted evenings,

pumpkin patch festivals

and corn maze adventures,

campfire stories and

lantern light hikes.

September's first tides

soon spell the coming

of camping and hay rides.

So come soon, cozy season,

don't pass quickly by,

bring your mystery

and soothing charm,

come quick

for harvest is nigh.
