"Can I ask you something?" Sophie whispered, tucking herself into the folds of Keefe's arms.

"Mm-hm." His voice soothed the goosebumps scampering along her skin as he rested his chin on her head. His lips left a reassuring kiss in her hair, so sweet it could be classified as the very essence of sugar.

Her heart peaked. "Do you like me better with makeup?"

Keefe laughed, his forehead coming to rest on her shoulder. "I like you better without it, actually."

"Why?"

A soft blush breezed over his face, harmonizing with the sunshine seeping into his eyes. "There's no need to perfect something that's already perfect, is there?"
