Baby you and me in a twisted fantasy
Buckle up and take a seat

Hold on tight.

Lia can feel the oxygen levels decrease as soon as they start–it gets colder, her breathing is shallow and she has to steady it. Calm down, she thought. she has to turn on the mask–

Another blast rocks the side of her ship, sending it flying in a circle. BREATHE SLOWER. Her chest hurts, and her lungs feel like they're compressing in her ribcage. Her hands fumble for the switch on the side of her helmet but it doesn't work.

"Lia–" The staticky voice from the radio loses its connection too quickly for her to recognize the voice.

Everything seems to be breaking at once. Another hit takes out one of her wings and she's still whirling around, being jostled in her seat as she desperately tries to maneuver with controls that aren't working anymore. In all the motion, she hits her head.

It's a hard hit–it disorients her into a heavy daze. And the lights are going crazy, flashing different shades of blues and purples around and around like a Ferris wheel. She watches it, the blood trickling down her face in an alarming amount–though, she doesn't realize it then.

Something else catches her attention in the corner of her eye–she sees it, a planet of lights all different colors–one of the largest cities in the universe. She's going towards it. At a breakneck speed.

Time seemed to slow. It felt like her head was being dunked in thick clear slime but she could think of one thing.

They always say your life flashes before your eyes or something like that–she never gave much thought to it. All those times she'd almost died, she had been scared.

And she was right now, but the first thing that crossed her mind was one person. Why. She wouldn't answer that question then, but she thought of the way his eyes looked when they were looking towards anyone else. Round and kind. And she thought of the way they narrowed at her in distaste. Well, she hadn't made herself too likable to him.

But there was an ache in her chest that was more from within than being knocked around like this. And for some reason, it hurt more than anything else.

The universe is such a big place, equal parts wonderful and dangerous... is what Yeonjun says and Soobin never outright disagrees with him–but secretly, he thinks it's much more filled with dangerous things. Like hostile climates and people who kill/harm/extort other people.

He's a very afraid person. And he's a medic because of this. It makes him feel useful without fumbling in a fight and messing up as he would've been bound to do. He hates risks. And Lia, but that's another discussion.

They had been on a mission to save a group of children from being sold to another planet. He knew there was some risk involved but there was no way he could sit this out–he couldn't stomach it. They needed him. And while that was a comforting thought, it still worried him immensely.

Which is why it's strange–when he dives after a ship falling from the sky, at a speed that gave him whiplash. It's as if his hands move on their own.

"What the hell are you doing!" Yeonjun yelled from the radio, "The brats come first–you all know that!"

But the voice dies out. Soobin doesn't know what he's doing either. He was afraid, of course, but he didn't even think twice.

"He's going after Lia!" Yeji gritted back, "We'll be fine!"

She shoots two more ships out of the sky.

Yeonjun curses under his breath as he adjusts his grip on the controls.
