The evening comes quickly and before I know it, I'm standing in Vic's room, warmly showered and fancy dressed.
"Will you help me?" Vic asks, holding out a necklace. I nod and put it on her. "It was my mother's." She then says softly and I notice her getting calmer. "I wish she was still here. Especially on days like these, I miss her." I put my arms around her from behind and she immediately grabs my hands. "I'm sure she's looking down from above right now, super proud of what her little girl has become."
Vic sobs, at which point I turn her to me, wipe a tear from her face, and then hug her tightly. She cries and I try my best to comfort her. After a few minutes, she breaks away from me again. "You're right. I'm sure she doesn't want me to cry on Christmas." I nod slightly and run my hand over her shoulder one more time before she turns around to wipe her tears.

Half an hour later we are all ready to go. Vic again at my hand, while she talks with her grandma. It's not long before we arrive at a Christmas market and are strolling about it. Everywhere it smells delicious, either sweet or savory.
It's not long before Fia is happily holding a cotton candy in her hand and Vic and I are sharing a pack of roasted almonds. We walk through the small, sweet stalls until 8 o'clock, when we are standing in front of the aforementioned restaurant a few minutes later.
There we are warmly greeted by a waiter who leads us to a long table. We all sit down and order something to drink.
Shortly after, I tasted the red wine we ordered. "Wow this is amazingly good for not being from Italy." "Of course, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten it either." Vic explains and winks at me. I take another sip before setting the glass aside. Vic's father exchanges a word or two with the waiter and 20 minutes later, there's a whole buffet in front of us. As soon as everyone has taken something, I also help myself. And everything, really everything tastes delicious here. Everyone eats everything, until we sit later, with full bellies at the table.

"And is Denmark also included in your tour?" one of Vic's relatives inquires and she nods immediately. "Of course, and you are all cordially invited to come." He gives a thumbs up and grins, immediately getting further involved in the next conversation. We remain seated for about three quarters of an hour before beginning our return trip.
Arriving home, Fia immediately runs into the living room where the Christmas tree stands. Under it are countless gifts. "Wow. Mom,Dad look!" She immediately starts looking for her name and quickly finds it. In the meantime I sit down on the couch and Vic sits on my lap.
I put my arms around her waist and my head on her back as we watch Fia. Happily she opens all her presents and immediately starts playing.
After that, it's the adults' turn and even I get a few little things. Finally, I also hand out some, but I save Vic's for later when we are upstairs in her room.

I close the door behind me and go to my bag. "By the way, I've been meaning to tell you this all along, that dress looks really good on you." I wink at her and crouch down to take out her present.
"Here, I hope you didn't think that I didn't have anything for you." She grins and together we sit down on the bed, where I press an envelope into her hand. Slowly she opens it and starts to read the letter. Written on it:

Dear Victoria,
we have heard that you are a big fan of our music! For this reason we would like to invite you to our concert in Rome. If you feel like it, we would be very happy to meet you in person afterwards! We wish you and your family Merry Christmas!
Lovely greets, Arctic Monkeys

Her mouth is open as she finishes reading and pulls two tickets for the concert out of the envelope. "W...how did you do that?" she asks, stuttering. "Good." I just give her a reply. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" She takes me in her arms sideways and I notice her start to cry for the second time. "Hey that's no reason to cry." "Do you know how long I've wanted this, especially to be noticed by them?" Happily I grin at how excited she is and give her a kiss. "Honestly how does that work?" "A magician never reveals his tricks!" I explain and wink at her. "Ok, ok then it's your turn now."
