No!" I hear a loud scream from downstairs and quickly just throw my book on the bed and run down. "Are you okay?" I ask immediately, stopping out of breath. The four guys on the couch just look at me confused. When I look up I realize they are sitting at the ps. Mario Kart music is playing in the background. "Sorry, we're just playing. Nothing bad!" Ethan clears me up immediately and I just shake my head in relief. The guys don't pay any more attention to me and just keep playing. Sighing, I go into the kitchen.
"They should be grateful to you for worrying. Besides, you get used to swearing and yelling over time." Vic explains and pours the pasta water away. I just nod for myself and take the pot from her. "Let me do that, I don't want you to burn yourself." Vic looks at me like a little kid who's been told not to cut himself. "Come make room. The pot is just too big." Vic does as ordered and goes to the stove where the pasta sauce is sizzling. I pour the rest of the water into the sink and put the pot outside. "Vaffanculo!" I hear from the kitchen and hurry back inside. "You're serious?" Vic shakes her hand and blows on her finger. "You know you can just say when you don't feel like cooking. You do not have to burn yourself." I just get a "Haha." Back and start grinning. I sit down at the table in the kitchen and just watch Vic.A few minutes pass until Vic turns around and turns off the stove, "If you had kept staring at my back like that, I'm sure you would have been staring through me soon." Only now do I realize what she said and immediately sit up straight. I feel a strange sensation in my stomach, but don't know if it's hunger or something else. "Are you still dreaming?" she then asks after a few seconds, flicking in front of my face. "Of course every time I see you." I wink at her and she waves some air in her face with her hand. "Uh lala." I laugh lightly and stand up. "Now you go check on the food before you burn yourself again." Grinning Vic disappears behind the curtain to the balcony while I call out to the boys. "Yes yeah one more minute!" exclaims Jake highly focused. "Ha! Now that's what I call karma!" yells Damiano a few seconds later and Thomas throws his hands in the air dramatically.I just grin at the way the 4 of them are still acting like kids and go outside where Vic is already waiting. "So?" "No way they're still in there for at least the next two hours." Vic just shrugs. "Never mind more time together." I agree with her and put pasta and then sauce on my plate. After my first fork, I'm immediately flashed again on everyone's cooking skills, except maybe Thomas. "How can it be that you all can cook so well?" "Well, I think every Italian should know how to properly prepare pasta." I laugh and shovel in another fork. "Well, if the boys are busy, would you like to go on a little date?" Wait. Date? Like date date or like a friend date, like good friends just do? Why am I even thinking about this so much? "So are you in?" snaps Vic out of my thoughts. "Sure. I'd love to." "Great." "So where are we going?" Vic just holds her index finger over her mouth. "Top-secret." "A little tip?" I beg, folding my hands. "No I don't know who's listening. Top-secret. Forgot." I groan in annoyance and continue eating my pasta. Why does she always have to have a good answer ready. After eating, I'm immediately upstairs to get ready. I stick with a basic outfit since I have no plan where we're going to go. Just as I sat down on my bed my cell phone rings. Immediately I start to look for it between all the blankets and pillows. A few seconds later I proudly hold it in my hand. Mom is the name on my screen.

"Ciao?"

"Ciao! It's me darling. I wanted to check in again to see how things are going."

"Everything is going great. It's just so incredibly beautiful here."

"Oh yeah, it is. What did you do today?"

"Not much today. Mostly reading. I'm going out with Vic in a little while."

"That's nice. I'm glad you finally made some friends. Have you met a hot Italian guy yet too? That Ethan guy from the group your brother works for is pretty cute."

"Mom! Ethan is cute and nice but we are definitely just friends."

On the other end of the phone, I hear her sigh.
