Elaena

The Dragonpit lessons were... well, to put it plainly, they were boring. Elaena didn't think she needed them anymore, seeing as she had already bonded with and ridden The Cannibal many times. But still, the Dragonkeepers insisted she needed them, claiming that he was still wild and a danger to others. She wondered how he could be such a danger when he was never even around; most often he was in solitude, far away from people or other dragons.

Now she watched glumly as Jace called for Vermax from the belly of the Dragonpit, who was nearly jumping in excitement as Vermax's screeches got louder and closer. He had been an ill-tempered dragon, much more ill-tempered than The Cannibal in her opinion, though she never said anything. Even she couldn't help but lean toward the darkness waiting to catch a glimpse of the green dragon. He looked more reptilian than dragon, but it made him look fiercer despite his laughingly small size.

"You must make him obey." The Dragonkeeper said, holding the chain that was wrapped around the dragon's neck firmly.

"Be calm, Vermax. Obey! Serve!" Jace called out, his excitement replaced with nervousness. "Stop!" Vermax stopped, letting out an ear-splitting screech before raising his head high and looking down at him. "Obey me, serve me."

Elaena had never had such problems with The Cannibal if any at all. He was silent most of the time, flew overhead here and there as if checking on her, and always came when called for. Sometimes, if she focused hard enough, she could sense what he was doing, but nothing further. She couldn't help but look around as she lost interest in Jace's lesson and instead looked at the soot that covered some of the walls and part of the ceiling from dragon fire. Mostly young dragons were the ones that disobeyed, burning everything in sight, including the Dragonkeepers themselves. Even Aegon's precious Sunfyre burned one or two of them.

She watched Aemond, who was watching Vermax. He had yet to claim a dragon, whether it be a hatchling or the ones that resided in the Dragonmont on Dragonstone. He had told her he was always meant to ride a dragon one day, but as the years went by, she believed him less and less. Her egg never hatched, yet The Cannibal chose her as a baby. Jace hatched Vermax, Luke hatched Arrax, and even Joffrey's egg hatched. Maybe it's because he's an ass, she thought to herself.
