"Not for you! Never for you. I will fight for you, no matter the cause."
"...Fine."
She turned back to the others and argued with them for a short time. Saying that it was nothing like she'd ever seen.
She tightened her fist, so I opened her hand and I placed mine in hers so she could squeeze it for comfort. She glanced at me and smiled sadly.
"It tore him apart." She sobbed. Claggor and Mylo looked at each other and then to me and I nodded.
All three of us went to hug her, Powder still stood behind us.
"You two aren't doing this alone Vi."
"He's our father too. Do we know where they took him?" I could hear Powder moving but thought nothing from it.
"Ekko followed them. The old cannery next to the docks." We picked up tool and weapons that we could carry with out a bag (more or less) so we were lighter. Claggor a heavy set pipe, Mylo a bat and his lock picks, Vi with Vander's gauntlets and me with two daggers.
"He said..." Vi continued before she saw Powder with a bag of her bombs, "I need you to sit this one out Powder."
"What?"
I walked over to a sleeping Ekko and gave him a gentle kiss on the forehead before I stood back with Vi still speaking with Powder.
"You're not coming."
"I'm not afraid."
"It's too dangerous."
"But families stick together. You said it yourself."
"I know what I said.."
"I want to fight. I can help!"
"You're not ready." Vi said this firmly. She had always said Powder would be ready and saying that she wasn't, was different. "You're all I have left. I can't loose you." She caressed Powder's face.
"Here." I said reaching into the small bag of essentials, bandages ect. and handed Vi a flare.
"If they come for you, take this and run. Where ever you are, light it up, and I'll find you. I promise." Vi gave it to Powder and hugged her gently.
We all left up the stairs and Vi took my hand and squeezed it slightly. We looked back to Powder and Ekko before leaving out the door.
