Baby, it's cold outside

With a smile curling on my lips, I unlocked my phone to unveil Aphmau's message, a warm invitation to share a cup of hot cocoa at her place, alongside Katelyn. Her words sparked a flutter of excitement within me. My fingers danced across the keyboard, crafting a swift response: 'On my way right now <3'.
 One last glimpse in the mirror affirmed my appearance, and with my phone and keys in hand, I embarked on my journey to Aphmau's house, eager to embrace the companionship of the day

I knocked on Aphmau's front door, anticipation warming me up even before the door swung open. As it did, my eyes were immediately drawn to Aphmau's purple winter sweater, a snug embrace around her figure. "Hey Y/N! So glad to see you here! I just finished making the hot cocoa. Come on in and feel free to join Katelyn. She's lounging on the couch, engrossed in her phone," Aphmau's voice welcomed me warmly, and I stepped inside her inviting abode. The cozy atmosphere wrapped around me, a stark contrast to the snowy world outside. Closing the door, I felt a wave of comfort as I took in the homely surroundings.

Guided by Aphmau's lead, I made my way to the living room where Katelyn sat, her gaze absorbed by her phone. I greeted her with a friendly smile before settling down on the couch next to her, my eyes tracing the contours of her blue sweater that harmoniously matched her hair.

"Looking as stylish as always, Y/N!" Katelyn's compliment brought a hint of color to my cheeks, even as I couldn't help but admire her own well-coordinated attire.

"Speak for yourself, Katelyn. Your knack for matching your outfits with your hair color is truly impressive. If only I had that kind of fashion sense," I chuckled, a genuine connection flowing between us, punctuated by shared laughter.

In no time, Aphmau returned to the room, a tray of hot cocoa cups in her hands. The scent of the warm drink enveloped us, and with gratitude, I accepted my cup. As Aphmau distributed the cups, she settled in next to me, the presence of friends creating an unspoken warmth that matched the cocoa in our hands. Engaged in conversation, we exchanged stories and laughter, the simple joy of togetherness filling the room and overshadowing the chilly weather outside.

"Next thing you know, she comes outside of her room chasing me outside of the house, and we just rolled around the snow with nothing but shorts on," Aphmau recounts with a playful glare directed at Katelyn, who takes a sip of her hot cocoa, a smug smirk playing on her lips.

"That's what you get for serenading me with Frozen songs outside my door," Katelyn retorts, rolling her eyes but unable to hide her amusement.

"Mornings for you two must be filled with so much adventure. It makes me quite envious; my house is usually silent as can be," I interject, a smile playing on my lips as I take a sip of my warm cocoa.

Aphmau turns her attention to me, a curious expression on her face. "Yeah that's right, I don't think I've ever asked but are you living by yourself Y/N?"

I nod in response. "Yes, after college, I decided to find a place to live on my own, especially since Travis is still busy with his classes. That's when I stumbled upon this street and my current house. It's been quite peaceful until you guys moved in," I reply, finishing my drink with a contented sigh.

Katelyn leaned in, her mischievous smile glimmering in the soft glow of the room. The faint scent of lavender wafted through the air, adding a touch of tranquility to the playful atmosphere. "If I had known you were living alone, Y/N," she teased, her voice carrying a playful lilt, "I might have considered rooming with you instead."

Aphmau's eyes widened in mock offense, her arms crossing over her chest in a dramatic display. "Katelyn! But you were so excited to live with me when I asked you!"
