(Since I haven't read the whole series yet(I am currently reading the 6th book of arc 1) this is taking place before ANYTHING, Rusty/Firepaw/Fireheart/Firestar hasn't even been born yet and no other events have taken place)
Swiftpaw: A slightly small calico cat, mostly white and black with fewer spots of orange. 13 Moons old.
Longfur: Smaller cat, black with long fur, large ears & paws, slight deformity in her left hind leg. 14 Moons old.
As Swiftpaw slowly crept up on a rabbit in the small clearing, her ears pinned and her hind legs raised for a quick jump to kill, her young, clumsy warrior mentor, Longfur, fell from a small tree, landing with a loud thud despite catching herself on her paws and scaring the rabbit away, its black tail disappearing into its den before her claws grabbed it.
She curled her upper lip into a snarl, slashing her tail and digging her sharp claws into the soil.
Everyone was constantly looking for fresh-kill now, as leaf-bare was only days away and all prey would soon go into their hiding holes.
"S-sorry Swiftpaw..." Longfur apologized, shuffling on her far too large paws and avoiding her apprentice's eyes.
She sighed, Longfur was only a moon or so older than her, just barely a warrior, and Swiftpaw suspected her naming ceremony was only a few days away.
She padded over slowly and licked the top of Longfur's head, lightly shoving her nose into the crook of her neck in a forgiving way.
"It's alright, Longfur, you didn't mean to," Her fur prickled as more cold wind rushed against their fairly small bodies, nothing abnormal, but definitely smaller than the rest of ThunderClan.
"Lets go find some more prey, Whitedust's kits need food," Swiftpaw said, remembering the dwindling numbers of their Clan members, and the even faster falling number of fresh-kill.
Longfur nodded, sniffing around and finding the scent of a nearby mouse.
Swiftpaw smelled it too, and crouched low as she started to stalk it, Longfur following more slowly.
Then when she was in attacking range, she crept forward and killed it quickly and painlessly, not letting it squeak to warn the other creatures nearby.
Burying it in the ground immediately, Longfur had picked up another scent and had started to make her way towards it.
"Swiftpaw.. Its a squirrel, it'll hear me miles away if I try to catch it.. Would you mind?" She asked hesitantly, obviously ashamed to ask her apprentice to help her.
Giving a reassuring nuzzle to her side, she nodded and took on the appropriate stalking method, keeping quiet behind the squirrel burying their nuts.
When she noticed the small animal covering the hole she took the chance to creep out of the tall grass, knowing the sound of the dirt moving would hide her paw steps and the rustling grass.
When the squirrel didn't notice still and she was only two mouse lengths away, she took an ending swipe with her paw, claws unsheathed and fatal.
Again, barely a peep sounded from the squirrel before it was lifeless at her paws.
Her fur puffed out trying to keep the cold of the air from seeping in, but still she was shaky walking back towards Longfur sitting awkwardly at a tree stump, her misshapen leg not going to the proper angle.
She seemed unfazed by the chill, though, her long and rather fluffy black hair preventing the cold air to penetrate her warm body.
She thanked Swiftpaw by saying "Oh thank you Swiftpaw, you're such a good warrior. I'm sure your naming ceremony will be soon, there's not much more I can teach you," Her tail flicked happily, a pleasant purr coming from her throat.
