09. Ilse's Journal (Part 1)

Aile glanced to the commander's tent, spotting Oluo and Petra, the last members of Levi's squad bickered there. She narrowed down her eyes at them before deciding to say something.

"By the way..."

Aile stopped her sentence midway. She cautiously eyed her right while Levi narrowed his eyes, catching her signal. "How many are there around?" He inquired.

"...Three." Aile simply said.

"Titans are coming from the forest!" The two heard Mike shouted from nearby roof.

"All hands, get ready!" Erwin ordered.

Aile glanced around, and caught a sight of Hanji, who was already mounting her horse, with panicking Moblit still standing on the ground.

"Squad leader!"

"Don't tell me she..."

In a blink of an eye Hanji spurred her horse towards the forest, ignoring her assistant.

"Idiot!" Aile blurted, mounting her own horse immediately and ran straight after Hanji.

"Oi, Aile!" Levi shouted, quickly mounted his horse and turning back. "Let's go!" Shouted him to his squad members.

His squad nodded in unison and immediately followed behind him on their horses.

Aile quickly followed Hanji into the forest. "Hanji!" She called for the glasses woman.

"Oh, Aile! You came to help me?" Hanji chirped happily. "Let's find ourselves a titan!"

"I'm here to smack you in the face, idiot!" Aile hissed in return. "We aren't allowed to go into forest alone! Let's just regroup with the others!"

"Well we're already inside of it now!" Hanji stated nonchalantly. As Aile clicked her tongue Hanji spotted a 5-meter class titan coming from behind the trees.

"Heehee! Found you!" Hanji sped up to that titan, grinning widely.

"Hanji!" Aile shouted again. "Tch.. Fine, I'll help you this time!" She finally said albeit reluctantly.

"That's what I expect from my number-one lovely assistant!" Hanji smiled widely when Aile had caught up with her. "Lead him out of this forest!" She commanded while looking forward again.

Aile nodded. She lashed the reins, spurring her horse past Hanji and circled around the titan. "Here, follow us!"

The titan's eyes followed after Aile. It roared, and finally decided to go after the auburn. "Got him! Wait, is it him now?"

"Duh, obviously!" Hanji giggled as she went together with Aile, leading the small titan out of the forest.

Aile glanced to her back once they had exited the forest. "...Alright, this is it," she said as she reloaded her smoke signal. She aimed it at the titan's face and shot a red smoke, blurring its sight.

As the titan roared Hanji dropped her jaw in surprise. "Aile! You said you were gonna help me!" She turned to Aile in protest.

"Yeah. I'm helping you to snap out of it." Aile deadpanned, pulling out her blades.

"But that's not how the plan goes!"

"Do you even have a plan in your mind?"

"Of course! We let him follow us back inside the wall!"

"Exactly as I thought!"

From afar, Levi and his squad could see the two arguing.

"Did she say him?" Oluo sweat dropped.
