Surely, Ellie's heard this whole lab safety spiel before, though? Teddy wondered curiously. Don't most middle schools have science labs too? But then again, she might have gone to a school that didn't do that or was homeschooled. And I guess she might be right to be worried. Even just walking down the street can- Upon realizing that her mind had drifted back to Penelope, Teddy grit her teeth, trying to get the thought out of her mind. There's no use thinking about that now...
Soon, science class ended as well and it was time to head to study hall. Upon arriving, Teddy mentioned to the others that she was going to visit Penelope in the hospital after school using her AAC app. Upon hearing that, Ellie looked at her in surprise and Teddy suddenly realized that although she told Sawyer and Dora about Penelope, she hadn't told Ellie.
"Who's Penelope?" Ellie asked. "And why is she in the hospital?"
As Teddy typed up her answer using the AAC app, Sawyer put a hand on her shoulder and told her, "I can fill Ellie in if you don't want to talk about it."
Teddy shook her head in response and finally finished typing her answer. Once Ellie heard what happened, she gasped.
"That's horrible! Drunk drivers are so selfish!" Ellie's expression soon changed from anger to worry. "Is... is your friend okay?"
"She will be," Teddy replied, using her AAC app. She smiled, trying to show she was okay.

"Well, I hope she gets better soon," Ellie expressed. Sawyer and Dora both nodded to show their agreement.
I do too, Teddy thought. Changing the subject, she asked if the others wanted to learn more ASL from her today.
"Are you sure you're up to it?" Sawyer asked nervously.
Teddy nodded, although Sawyer still seemed unsure.
"Hold on, I couldn't get to the second part of the lesson yesterday because I was watching the student council meeting," Ellie pointed out.
Teddy was confused for a moment before realizing that by "second part of the lesson", Ellie was referring to when Dora and Sawyer came over to her house yesterday.
"Well," Teddy replied through her AAC app, "it's always good to review what you've learned anyways, so I can just teach the words I taught them yesterday again, and that could also double as a review for Dora and Sawyer."
