Author's Note: I know, what's ahead might seem like Flower bashing, but I swear it's not. Remember that this story takes place from our human Teardrop's perspective and canonically, Flower and Teardrop's relationship isn't very good. Add to that the fact that human Flower is either not in her redemption arc yet or she just started it, and so, Teardrop's view of Flower is not good, to say the least.
Trigger warning for a toxic parent child relationship. It's not physically abusive, but it might count as verbally, mentally, and/or emotionally abusive.
When Teddy was younger, she would hear Leah and Penelope talk in hushed tones about this one rich girl named Fleur who went to school with them. And when Teddy entered middle school, she actually ran into Fleur a couple of times; all of which just validated everything that Teddy had heard from Leah and Penelope about the taller girl. In fact, the whole middle school seemed to breathe a sigh of relief when Fleur moved on to high school.
But now, for some reason, Fleur's mom was here... and teaching science. As a teacher. And Teddy could see exactly where Fleur got her personality from.
"How dare you be late to my class?" Mrs. Chrysanthe Hanasaki screamed. Technically, her last name was just Hanasaki but she seemed to want to remind everyone of her maiden name due to the fact that most of her achievements were made under her maiden name.
"I'm sorry, ma'am," Liam, the one was being yelled at, said nervously.
"You kids are so ungrateful! Your principal could have just hired any old geezer as a science teacher, but he chose me, the wife of one of the greatest minds in robotics and AI," Mrs. Chrysanthe Hanasaki said, "but more importantly, I'm above this. I'm a rich, successful woman. I'm only volunteering for this because I am such a good mom to my two daughters..."
Right, Fleur had a sibling. Flora was a year younger than Fleur, but looked so much like her that they might as well be twins. But as far as Teddy knew, Flora didn't have the same sort of bad reputation as her older sister did. Although, considering how their mom is, Teddy could sort of understand why Fleur was the way she was; not excuse, but understand.
"Ugh! Fine! You!" Mrs. Chrysanthe Hanasaki yelled, pointing to the person in front of Sawyer, who was raising his hand.
"Are... are the rumors that one of your daughters is secretly a robot true?" the student asked.
All of a sudden, the room erupted into whispers.
"Why would he ask that?"
"That's what happens when you have no sense of self preservation."
"He probably wants to join the school newspaper. You know reporters."
"Enough!" Mrs. Chrysanthe Hanasaki yelled, slamming her hands against the table. She glared at the student who originally asked the question and barked, "You! What's your name? Your full name?"
"Uh, Claude. Claude Himmel," the student replied nervously.
"Himmel, huh? Oh right, I think I met your dad once," the teacher said. "He told me you were an out of control hoarder. Is that true?"
"It's not a hoard," Claude replied defensively. "It's a collection."
"Well, then that means you can't believe in everything you hear, right?" The teacher asked with a fake smile before immediately shifting back into a comfortable scowl. "So stop spreading nonsense about my daughters!" she snapped. "Now, I'm going to divide you into partners."
She pointed at Liam and Claude. "You two are team 'managed-to-piss-me-off-on-the-first-day'."
The teacher then turned to Dora. "You, and..." she looked around the room, settling on the only member of the class who Teddy did not learn the name of yet. "...you!"
