Chapter 37 (part 1)

Start from the beginning

Y/n felt Wanda touch her shoulder. "It's okay, Y/n. He's not lying."

"How do you know?" Y/n glanced at Wanda.

We spoke before this. I agreed to let him visit me. Wanda's voice rang clearly in Y/n's head.

What?! You've been in touch? How do you know he's trustworthy? One wrong step and we'd end up back at the Raft! It's too risky, Wands. Y/n turned to look at her as Vision watched them quietly.

The two of us meeting like this is a risk too, don't you think? Y/n's eyes flashed briefly with hurt at what Wanda said before she looked away. Wanda quickly regretted her words, sighing as she took Y/n's hand. Vision turned away, trying to look interested in something else.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be rude. I'm glad you're here, I really am. Wanda chewed her lip as she tried to think of how to explain things to Y/n. I trust him, Y/n. He proved his worth. He knew where I was for a while now, actually. We first met right after you left a few months ago, and he explained everything. I promise he means well.

You mean he's visited you before this?

Twice. Y/n dropped Wanda's hand at her answer, taking a few steps away before she turned to her.

So, when he said that he was here to apologize, he meant specifically to me, right? Since you already had your own reunion? And when were you planning to tell me? Wanda opened her mouth but was cut off by Y/n.

"Did you arrange this? For him to meet up with us?"

"No, I didn't know he would be here," Wanda replied as both women turned their attention to Vision.

"Oh, I uh—it was Christmas Eve and I thought you'd like some...company," he shyly admitted to Wanda. "It was supposed to be a surprise. I was about to call you and ask if you'd like to meet."

Y/n glanced between the two, starting to question if her coming there was a mistake or not. Wanda heard her thoughts but didn't want to interrupt, understanding Y/n's annoyance. "I really need that drink now." Y/n started to walk towards the pub, stopping next to Vision as she studied his human form before looking up into his eyes. "Don't try anything with me, or I won't be as nice to you as Wanda has been." Her eyes glowed a deep blue in warning before she turned away and entered the pub, the other two following closely behind.

The next few hours were a rather confusing bag of emotions for the three of them. Vision was just happy to be around Wanda, even though he sensed the tension. Wanda was trying to be grateful for Vision and Y/n visiting but felt guilty about not telling Y/n earlier about Vision. Y/n was at war with her own self, trying to decide whether to stay or leave. It wasn't just the fact that Wanda purposefully didn't tell her about Vision's visits; she was also worried about jeopardizing her own freedom. That led to the two women almost competitively downing drink after drink to fill in the awkward silence as Vision pretended to nurse a mug of beer, occasionally trying to make conversation.

"So, how are Captain Rogers and Miss Romanoff doing? Will they be visiting as well?" Vision smiled almost awkwardly, trying to get the women to speak.

Y/n glared at him before replying. "Why do you want to know? So Tony can scoop us all up in one go while we're unaware and trying to spend time with each other?" Wanda gave Y/n a look which she ignored. Wanda chose to look at Vision and quietly apologized on Y/n's behalf.

"It's alright, Wanda. I was just trying to lighten the mood, Y/n. I apologize if it sounded—"

"Weird? Yeah, considering how much I don't really trust you yet." Y/n drank a few gulps of her beer, noting Vision's change of expression as he looked into his mug. Wanda finished her drink and asked Vision to follow her to the bar to get more drinks for them. Y/n watched them leave, knowing that some space to breathe might be good for all of them at this moment.
