"Plus, its not like she'll tell us anyway.." Beepaw sighed, and the others nodded. "Even if we really wanted to, we'd get in trouble."

Tansypaw had gotten her new warrior name, Tansystep, and she was supposed to sit vigil for an entire night! Beepaw couldn't imagine it.

Beepaw entered the apprentice's den, and almost everyone was there but Lemonpaw. Oh, thats right. He was talking with his mentor about an assignment.

Beepaw laid in his moss bed, getting comfortable. Lavenderpaw tucked into a ball, and Beepaw was a bit curious to ask something. "Hey, Lavender?" Meowed Beepaw, his eyes closed.

Lavenderpaw's ears perked with curiosity. "Yes?" Lavender lightly meowed. Beepaw thought about it a little and then opened his mouth to speak, but Lemonpaw came running into the den, cutting Beepaw off.

"Im going to be hunting! By myself!" Lemonpaw said with a huge grin. Beepaw couldn't help but feel jealous. "already? Doesnt it start around 10 moons?"

"I guess, but Nighteyes said it'd be a minor assignment. It's gonna be practice, he says."

"Thats nice! Good luck, I hope you hunt lots. We do need it, either way." Lavenderpaw mentioned, since it was Leaf bare. Fortunately, it was ending soon, so the clan didnt need to worry about the lack of prey.

The following morning, Beepaw was awoken by the sudden talking between Riverpaw and Tansystep. "How did your vigil go?" He heard Riverpaw say.

"It went nice, nothing went wrong!" Purred Tansystep with amusement, swiping her paw over her ear with a lick. Riverpaw sighed with relief. "You should probably go to sleep!"

Beepaw didnt hear much after that, because Sparrowheart came into the apprentice's den. Beepaw groaned and blinked open his eyes. He glared at the sky, and saw it was a very pale blue. The sun wasn't even up!

"It's cloudier than usual." Beepaw mentioned to his mentor, and Sparrowheart nodded. "I assume so, Beepaw. I wont be able to train with you right now, im leading a patrol. I was hoping you could go hunt for Mistlebreeze and the queens."

"sure, thats fine with me." Beepaw stretched, seeing that most of his siblings were asleep. The only 2 apprentices that weren't there were Freckledpaw and Riverpaw. Everyone else was sleeping. "Wake Lemonpaw up, Nighteyes told me about his minor assignment." Sparrowheart said, before walking out.

Beepaw woke up Lemonpaw, then Beepaw trotted out and saw Tansystep and Squirrelrun sharing tongues, Riverpaw talking to Dewwillow, and Sparrowheart getting ready to lead a patrol. Everyone else was asleep, as far as he could see.

Beepaw didnt notice how cold it was until a cold, windy breeze swept by. It caught everyone's attention, but then shrugged it off. Beepaw walked out of camp, taking in the scents of prey.

He didnt smell the magpie because it was very well camouflaged with all the scents, but luckily his ears twitched. The sound of a magpie chirping caught his attention. He stalked the magpie gobbling down a worm.

He stalked beneath a bush, waiting for the right time to plunge his sharp teeth into the magpie's neck. Woosh! He jumped swiftly towards the bird, biting down into the bird's neck until its struggles died out.

He did the same for 2 unlucky mice, and a nice, plump squirrel. He then caught a juicy vole. Beepaw determined it was enough to feed the queens and the only elder.

When he returned back to camp, he realized Lemonpaw was already out hunting. He also noticed the camp looked more lively. More cats emerged out of their dens. His first stop was to the elder's den.

He quietly entered and saw Mistlebreeze telling a story to Lotuskit, Lilackit, and Lilykit. "And then the big bad badger attacked the camp!" Mistlebreeze chuckled, then he realized Beepaw came in with some fresh-kill.

"Oh, thank you Beepaw." Mistlebreeze smiled, as Beepaw placed down a mouse and the magpie. "No problem, I'll do this tomorrow too. Anything you'd specifically like?" Asked Beepaw.

Mistlebreeze thought for a while. "A couple of salmon would be great, or has Sparrowheart not taught you how to catch fish?"

Beepaw shook his head and Mistlebreeze groaned. "That mouse brain ought to teach you already! Now with Tansystep out of the picture, who'll bring me nice and fat salmon?" Chuckled Mistlebreeze, chewing on the magpie.

"Im sure Sparrowheart will teach me soon, hes a bit busy today though." Beepaw said, sitting down. The kits were playing around with Mistlebreeze's piece of mouse. "Oh right, did you know these clumsy kits were my grandchildren?"

Beepaw didnt know that, and it was quite of a surprise. Although the kits looked a bit like Mistlebreeze, he would never guess they were related. "Really? I would've never thought of that!" Beepaw said, surprised. "Aside from that, go bring your prey to the queens."

Beepaw quickly nodded and grabbed the mouse and squirrel. He realized it might not be enough, but maybe a queen wasn't too hungry.

He entered the den and saw Dewwillow talking with Elkfoot. "Your kits will be as strong as you, dont worry." Meowed Dewwillow, comforting Elkfoot who was having a bit of trouble breathing. "Hi, is this a good time? I brought a mouse and a squirrel."

"Oh, I'll take the mouse. Elkfoot needs the squirrel more than me." Nodded Dewwillow, and Elkfoot smiled. "Thank you, Dewwillow." Purred Elkfoot, receiving the squirrel and taking it apart.

Elkfoot's belly looked really swollen, but it was normal. "C-could you tell Goldenflower to fetch me something for my breathing? It's not that bad, but it's troubling me a bit." Elkfoot said, and Beepaw quickly nodded.

Beepaw went to grab the medicine cat, Goldenflower. "Hmm, her trouble has been getting worse nowadays. It doesnt seem to be a future problem when it comes to birthing her kits, though." Goldenflower said, looking around her herb shelf.

"It's been a problem?" Asked Beepaw, and Goldenflower nodded. "its started since her belly started to get bigger."

"We're running out of Juniper berries, remember that when you go foraging, Whitepaw." Goldenflower remarked, and Whitepaw nodded. "Noted."

Goldenflower went into the den, and Elkfoot was still heavily breathing. "You feeling okay, Elkfoot?" Goldenflower asked, handing the Juniper berries to her.

"Yeah.. it's been getting.. *inhale* better." Elkfoot said, chewing on the Juniper berries. "Tell me if you have any complaints, I dont want your kits to die because of your breathing problems."

"They can die because.. *inhale* of that?" Asked Elkfoot, and Goldenflower nodded. "Yes, but it doesnt seem to be a problem, so dont worry."

The sun was at its highest, but it still was still pretty chilly. Beepaw couldn't help but get it out of his mind; what was his mother.. hiding?
