Chapter 18

"I have to admit this boy, you're sharp. I fully intend to find out what your abilities are. A magic user like you is indispensable, in the time that you'll here I'm certain you can advance our understanding of magic. But listen here, despite how you act, you're only a child, a naive child who doesn't know a thing about this world."

Suddenly Ky grabbed Otto's collar as he pulled him closer as he yelled,

"YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ME, YOU DON'T KNOW THE HORRORS I'VE SEEN! HAVE YOU SEEN THE FACES OF YOUR FRIENDS AS THEY CRY OUT IN PAIN, BODIES SO HORRIBLY DISFIGURED NOT EVEN THEIR CLOSEST FRIENDS CAN RECOGNIZE THEM, A MOTHER CRADLING THE LIFELESS BODY OF HER CHILD, SOMEONES DECAYING BODY AS THE ONLY THING THEY CAN DO IS CRY OUT IN PAIN. I DON'T CARE IF YOU HAVE, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO CRITICIZE ME!"

Staring into Ky's eyes, Otto was completely calm as he said,

"Maybe I haven't, maybe I have. Even so, you're still a child, a determined one I'll give you. But you'll need far more than determination to convince me otherwise."

Letting go of Otto's collar, Ky was significantly less angry, but his eyes were still filled with anger as he said,

"I might still be a child, and while I haven't seen the worst of humanity. Even so, I'm willing to dedicate my life to fully eradicate the Honkai, I intend to fight to preserve the smiles of the people who can't protect themselves," putting his high hand to his chest, the anger in Ky's eyes were replaced by sheer determination, "I'm willing to believe in the path that Schicksal takes. For the betterment of humanity, I choose to follow this path, even if it takes me to the most evilest of places. However, if I discover that Schicksal is performing inhumane things, I am more than willing to destroy whatever it may be, and make sure that it will no longer happen."

His eyes darkening as they met Otto's bright green eyes. Locked in a silent battle, neither of them broke their gaze as it tension began rising. Holding their stares for a few moments longer as Otto began laughing, a laugh that only man like Otto Apocalypse could do. Surprised at the sudden shift, Ky's eyes lightened as reeled back ever so slightly. Once he had finished laughing, Otto reestablished his gaze with Ky as he said,

"Alright, it seems you have convinced me, I don't have any doubts that you'll be a good member of Schicksal. Your little speech told me enough about you, and I haven't seen many people like you in my life. And I'm more than willing to keep someone like you around," turning so he faced the white haired woman,

"Amber, you know what you're going to be doing here. There's someone I'm going to be visiting."

Performing a quick bow, Amber said,

"Understood Overseer."

Walkings towards the door, Otto suddenly paused right before the door. Turning his head so her  could see Ky and said,

"Ky, I hope that you'll be able to meet one of S-rank valkyries. She goes by Durandal, I think she'll like you."

"Huh, wait what.", said Ky, shocked at the sudden statement as he reached his hand out in a futile attempt to stop Otto. Watching as Otto left, Ky slowly lowered his hand as he stood in silence. After a couple of moments, Amber broke the silence as she said,

"Ky Kiske, there a couple of things that the Overseer wishes for you to have," handing over a folder containing multiple papers, "these should contain all the information you'll need about your current situation. If there is anything that is not answered, I am more than willing to answer them."

Taking the folder from Amber, Ky said,

"Thank you, Amber was it?"

"That would be correct, and I was only doing what I was asked."
