"That's great. Wanna meet my dog?" Emily asks.

"Sure." Jetta says shrugging.

"CLIFFORD." Emily calls him. He appears from around the corner. He begins barking, and runs to join the family. Mac gets startled and whines jumping on Jetta's back who is shaking. Clifford skids past them to a stop, then turns.

"Hello Clifford." Jetta says softly. Clifford lowers his head and licks Jetta in greeting as Mac jumps down from her back.

"Eww. Slobbers." Jetta complains. Clifford looks to Mac who is whining. Clifford barks hello, but Mac whines and runs off.

"Wow your dog really is fast." Emily says to Jetta who frowns.

"Your dog is too big Emily Elizabeth. I don't think he belongs on our island." She then walks off after Mac.

"You do belong here Clifford. I just wish people would take the time to get to know you better." She then hugs him.

(Flashback)

Emily is with Clifford in the park. She has a trash can lid as a frisbee. She throws it as far as she can and Clifford chases it barking. He runs past people walking past the park, and picnicking on the tables. They stop what they are doing and watch him.

"That mammoth mutt is gonna be nothing but trouble." Horace states annoyed.

"They seem like such a sweet family. But their dog is just to gosh darn big." Violet speaks.

"And he slobbers too." Jetta says joining them with her mother. Everyone turns to look as they hear sirens. A firetruck roars past them and towards the field down the street where the forest starts.

"Look it's a fire." Pedro points out, seeing the smoke. Everyone watches the four firefighters step out of their truck, and pull the hose to the smoke.

"Looks like someone didn't put out their campfire very well." The Fire Chief says to the other firefighters. "I just hope we have enough water in our tank to stop it." One turns the nozzle as the chief and another try to water down the smoky ground. Everyone joins them and murmurs amongst themselves.

"Chief Campbell can we help?" Victor asks. Campbell turns to look at them.

"Sure you can. The water tank on our trucks not big enough. We'll need to use those buckets to bring some water over from the pond." He points to the box of buckets on the side of the truck.

"Right we're on our way." Pedro says. Everyone grabs a bucket.

"Okay everyone. Pass the bucket of water down." Pedro advises. Empty buckets are beside him. He fills a bucket with water, and passes it along until it reaches Victor.

"Keep it moving." Horace says.

"Here it comes." Violet calls out.

"Almost there." The mailman says handing Victor the water bucket. Victor empties it on the ground by the smoke. It starts to fade away, but comes back.

"Oh. No." He turns to the others. "We need more water." They repeat the process again and again as Emily approaches them with Clifford.

"Maybe Clifford and I can help."

"That's real sweet of you to offer, but I don't think so." Violet denies. Clifford barks, and watches them struggle to put the embers out, and he turns to the pond as the tank becomes empty. He runs to the pond, and gulps up a big mouthful of water into his cheeks.

"Look that giant dog's drinking all the water." Horace complains. "We won't be able to put out the fire." Clifford runs to the fire, and sprays the water over the area, effectively putting it out.

"Would you look at that." Campbell says excited.

"He's putting out the fire." Victor realizes. Finally the fire is out.

"I'll be doggone." Campbell states. "That big dog put the fire out."

"Well Pedro I guess we were wrong about this big dog causing big problems." Victor acknowledges.

"Yeah. He never caused any problems big or small." Pedro agrees.

"And we never took the time to really get to know him." Victor adds.

"Let's start right now." Pedro say firmly. Both toss down their buckets, and walk over to Clifford.

"Hello Clifford." Victor greets. Clifford barks in greeting.

"Welcome to Birdwell Island." Pedro welcomes. Everyone else joins in petting and welcoming Clifford to the island. He wags his tail in happiness, causing a breeze to pick up.

(Present)

"So you see Rose. All those people who thought Clifford was a big problem learned something from him." Emily says as they reach the house.

"Yeah. They learned you have to give someone a chance and really get to know them before you decide if you like them or not." Ria nods in agreement. "Right Clifford."

"Ruff." Clifford barks. He sits, and the three slide down his back to the ground.

"Now everyone loves Clifford. My Big Red Dog." Emily says hugging Clifford with Ria and Rose.

After a long day of eating and talking, it's time for Ria and Rose to head off. They say their goodbye's and promise to visit soon. The two head off towards the mainland, and to the Tardis. The two enter giggling and The Doctor looks to them confused.

"What?" Both continue laughing as Ria hooks up her bike to a column.

"What?" He repeats. Both just shake their heads, and head for their rooms.
