My eight year old self looked up at my father. I had long, brown hair that fell down my back in waves.

My father looked at me in disgust, his lips pulled back in a snarl. "Candice, go grab me a beer."

"O-Okay" I stuttered, and trotted over to the kitchen. I slipped on water, falling into Nathans arms.

"You okay there, Candice?" he asked me. I smiled brightly at him and nodded.

"I'm okay!" I chirped, pulling back. I opened the fridge and grabbed a beer before running back to find my father. "Here you go!" I handed him the drink.

"Get lost" he snarled at me. I frowned. Ever since I had told him I felt that I was a boy, he would look at me in disgust. He stopped loving me. At that thought, I felt tears burn my eyes, threatening to spill.

Pouting, I walked over to Nathan.

"Why doesn't he love me anymore?" I sobbed.

Nathan wrapped his arms around me. "He is blinded by the girl he thought you were. To blind to see the beautiful boy you are."  I hugged him tighter.

"Will things get better?" I asked. He nodded and gave me a bright smile.

"Of course things will!" Nathan gave a small chuckle.
