•John POV•

"Hey, howdy and how's it going!" I greeted, walking over to my friend group, a few heads turned to look in my direction, smiles lit up their faces as I hugged, fist bumped or high fived a few of them. "So who's got what today?" Tyler inquired, "I have art." I explained, "English.." "Maths, ugh kill me!" Everyone else said what they had, I was the only one who had art.. so I'm gonna be alone but eh, it's whatever really. I was the only one who really enjoyed the subject.

I made my way over to class, waiting outside with other students, a short figure caught my eye, I've never seen him here before.. so he must be new? He's so short, although I am tall as shit, I tower over nearly everyone here to be fair, but he's shorter than most of the short girls. After a moment we were let in, I took my seat in the back and let my bag slip off my shoulder and hit the floor softly. The new boy sat down in the back and fairly close to where I sat too, well I mean he did sit close, just an arms reach away from me.

I pulled my phone out, scrolling twitter and instagram till lesson started, "Alright class! Phones away please, today, we won't be doing our usual and just doing what I've got set for you, no. Today we have a free lesson! Which means you're free to draw whatever you desire, just don't draw anything nothing inappropriate alright? I'd also like to announce we have a new student, would you like to stand up and introduce yourself?" Our art teacher announced, I watched as the new kid got up and walked to the front, "Hi.. I'm Jaren.. uhh... I'm from Canada and umm.. yeah.. that's about it." He smiled.

I watched Jaren walk back to his seat, head down as he took his seat again, he seemed like the nervous type or maybe it's because it's a new place for him? I wasn't sure. I can't read minds or.. yeah.

But he's cute, I wonder if he's gay? Kinda gives me that vibe or he's in the closest still and isn't sure what he is or what he wants in life maybe, I'm rambling on in my head.. I got to work on what I wanted to draw, it would just be some doodles really, they wouldn't take me long to get done.

The lesson was soon over, I had finished my piece and handed it in because why not, it's what we did, on my way out I got a glimpse of Jaren, he walked alone towards the area we go outside to chill, being the person I am I followed suit, I wanted to get to know him more. See if we could be friends because.. why not!

I caught the door before it closed, Jaren had walked off to a bench in the shade, I walked on over to where he sat, "Uh.. hey there! I'm John, I was in art class with you." I greeted, face palming at the way I decided to talk.. my hand was outstretched to shake his, a smile on my face, he looked up briefly. "Jaren." He quietly mumbled, ignoring my hand completely as he looked down, I took a seat on the other side, wondering how to strike a conversation with him.

"So.. you're from Canada, what made you come here? Or is it just a small thing like.. like an exchange student? Is that the right term.. or.. umm. Fuck I don't know how one talks to another really.." I rambled, "My parents moved me down here, wanted me to have a fresh start away from Canada.." I raised my eyebrow at that, "How come? If you don't mind me asking of course!" "Umm.. bullying.. it got so bad I umm... I attempted.." my heart sank at that word..

"You tried.. you tried to kill yourself?" I inquired, my hands linked together as he nodded, "I- I'm sorry you went through that shit.. I know that I don't know much but, also that a simple sorry doesn't mean anything but.. I'm glad I got to meet you, you seem like a great guy to hang around!" I smiled, arms spreading out with excitement, it's horrible when bullying goes that far to someone.
